And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
And i came this day unto the well, and said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, if now thou do prosper my way which I go:
For it was little which thou hadst before I came, and it is now increased unto a multitude; and the LORD hath blessed thee since my coming: and now when shall I provide for mine own house also?
And now thy two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before i came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.
And as for me, when i came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem.
For since i came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.
And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the LORD did unto me when i came forth out of Egypt.
And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when i came to her, I found her not a maid:
And the Levite, the husband of the woman that was slain, answered and said, i came into Gibeah that belongeth to Benjamin, I and my concubine, to lodge.
Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and them which came out of the cities they destroyed in the midst of them.
And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since i came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.
Howbeit I believed not the words, until i came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard.

Howbeit I believed not their words, until i came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: for thou exceedest the fame that I heard.
But Amaziah would not hear; for it came of God, that he might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they sought after the gods of Edom.
Then i came to the governors beyond the river, and gave them the king's letters. Now the king had sent captains of the army and horsemen with me.
Afterward i came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.
And i came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God.
Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when i came out of the belly?
Wherefore, when i came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.
Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.
Then i came to them of the captivity at Telabib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.
And it was according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, even according to the vision that I saw when i came to destroy the city: and the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell upon my face.
i came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: i came not to send peace, but a sword.
Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence i came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time i came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence i came out.
And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, i came down from heaven?
Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence i came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for i came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that i came out from God.

Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you i came not as yet unto Corinth.
And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when i came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.

And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshipped the LORD, <i>bowing himselfi> to the earth.
And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac <i>wasi> threescore years old when she bare them.
And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac <i>wasi> sporting with Rebekah his wife.
And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, <i>here ami> i.

And he said to him, Go, i pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.
And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, <i>hisi> coat of <i>manyi> colours that <i>wasi> on him;
And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry <i>iti> down to Egypt.
And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name <i>wasi> Hirah.
And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled <i>iti> on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.
And he said, What pledge shall i give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that <i>isi> in thine hand. And he gave <i>iti> her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him.

And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins <i>werei> in her womb.

And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How hast thou broken forth? <i>thisi> breach <i>bei> upon thee: therefore his name was called Pharez.
And it came to pass from the time <i>thati> he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.
And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, <i>ori> to be with her.
And it came to pass about this time, that <i>Josephi> went into the house to do his business; and <i>there wasi> none of the men of the house there within.
That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and i cried with a loud voice:
And it came to pass, when he heard that i lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out. And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home. And she spake unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me: And it came to pass, as i lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out. read more And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled. And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners <i>werei> bound: and he was there in the prison. But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison. And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that <i>werei> in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer <i>of iti>. And it came to pass, as i lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out.
And it came to pass after these things, <i>thati> the butler of the king of Egypt and <i>hisi> baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.
And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they <i>werei> sad.
And it came to pass the third day, <i>which wasi> Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.
And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the <i>otheri> kine upon the brink of the river.
And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but <i>there wasi> none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.
Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved <i>himselfi>, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.
And, behold, seven other kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed, such as i never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness:
And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them <i>arei> seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.
And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy <i>corni>; because that the famine was <i>soi> sore in all lands.
And the sons of Israel came to buy <i>corni> among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan.
And Joseph <i>wasi> the governor over the land, <i>andi> he <i>it wasi> that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him <i>withi> their faces to the earth.
And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man's bundle of money <i>wasi> in his sack: and when <i>bothi> they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid.
And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, <i>everyi> man's money <i>wasi> in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.
And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which <i>wasi> in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves to him to the earth.
And Judah and his brethren came to Joseph's house; for he <i>wasi> yet there: and they fell before him on the ground.
Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let thy servant, i pray thee, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant: for thou <i>arti> even as Pharaoh.
And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, i pray you. And they came near. And he said, i <i>ami> Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.
And these <i>arei> the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob's firstborn.
All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob's sons' wives, all the souls <i>werei> threescore and six;
And the sons of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt, <i>werei> two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, <i>werei> threescore and ten.
Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they <i>arei> in the land of Goshen.
When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide <i>iti> from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:
And it came to pass after these things, that <i>onei> told Joseph, Behold, thy father <i>isi> sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.
And now thy two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before i came unto thee into Egypt, <i>arei> mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.

And they came to the threshingfloor of Atad, which <i>isi> beyond Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days.

And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt <i>alreadyi>.

Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, <i>eveni> to Horeb.

And the LORD did so; and there came a grievous swarm <i>of fliesi> into the house of Pharaoh, and <i>intoi> his servants' houses, and into all the land of Egypt: the land was corrupted by reason of the swarm <i>of fliesi>.
And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that <i>wasi> in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.
And it came to pass the selfsame day, <i>thati> the LORD did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.
And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this <i>placei>: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.
And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, <i>This is donei> because of that <i>whichi> the LORD did unto me when i came forth out of Egypt.
And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore i sacrifice to the LORD all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children i redeem.
And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not <i>throughi> the way of the land of the Philistines, although that <i>wasi> near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness <i>to themi>, but it gave light by night <i>to thesei>: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, <i>andi> all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they <i>werei> bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.
And they came to Elim, where <i>werei> twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.
And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which <i>isi> between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt. And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that the LORD hath brought you out from the land of Egypt: And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD; for that he heareth your murmurings against the LORD: and what <i>arei> we, that ye murmur against us? And Moses said, <i>This shall bei>, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what <i>arei> we? your murmurings <i>arei> not against us, but against the LORD. And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for he hath heard your murmurings. And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, i have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that i <i>ami> the LORD your God. And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host. And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness <i>there layi> a small round thing, <i>asi> small as the hoar frost on the ground. And when the children of Israel saw <i>iti>, they said one to another, It <i>isi> manna: for they wist not what it <i>wasi>. And Moses said unto them, This <i>isi> the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat. This <i>isi> the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, <i>according toi> the number of your persons; take ye every man for <i>themi> which <i>arei> in his tents. And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less. And when they did mete <i>iti> with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating. And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning. Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them. And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted. And it came to pass, <i>thati> on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one <i>mani>: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein. And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day <i>isi> a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field. Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, <i>which isi> the sabbath, in it there shall be none. And it came to pass, <i>thati> there went out <i>somei> of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none. And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws? See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. So the people rested on the seventh day. And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it <i>wasi> like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it <i>wasi> like wafers <i>madei> with honey. And Moses said, This <i>isi> the thing which the LORD commandeth, Fill an omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread wherewith i have fed you in the wilderness, when i brought you forth from the land of Egypt. And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your generations. As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept. And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan. In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they <i>intoi> the wilderness of Sinai.
And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that <i>wasi> in the camp trembled.
And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses <i>upi> to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.
<i>Buti> if the owner thereof <i>bei> with it, he shall not make <i>iti> good: if it <i>bei> an hired <i>thingi>, it came for his hire.
And i said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break <i>iti> off. So they gave <i>iti> me: then i cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now i will go up unto the LORD; peradventure i shall make an atonement for your sin.
And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, <i>thati> every one which sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which <i>wasi> without the camp.
And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, <i>thati> all the people rose up, and stood every man <i>ati> his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle.
And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood <i>ati> the door of the tabernacle, and <i>the LORDi> talked with Moses.
But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel <i>thati> which he was commanded.
And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, <i>andi> they brought the LORD'S offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.
And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing hearted, <i>andi> brought bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every man that offered <i>offeredi> an offering of gold unto the LORD.
And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first <i>dayi> of the month, <i>thati> the tabernacle was reared up.
And it came to pass on the eighth day, <i>thati> Moses called Aaron and his sons, and the elders of Israel;
And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: <i>whichi> when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.
And it came to pass on the twentieth <i>dayi> of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud was taken up from off the tabernacle of the testimony.
And the Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary: and <i>the otheri> did set up the tabernacle against they came.
<i>Buti> even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which <i>isi> among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?
And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that <i>wasi> upon him, and gave <i>iti> unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, <i>thati>, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.
And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood <i>ini> the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.
And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, <i>werei>. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)
And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and <i>they broughti> of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this <i>isi> the fruit of it.
Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, <i>eveni> unto Hormah.
And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that <i>wasi> under them:
This <i>isi> the ordinance of the law which the LORD hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein <i>isi> no blemish, <i>andi> upon which never came yoke:
Then came the children of Israel, <i>eveni> the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.
And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts <i>alsoi>.
And the children of Israel, <i>eveni> the whole congregation, journeyed from Kadesh, and came unto mount Hor. And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the coast of the land of Edom, saying, Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which i have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah. Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto mount Hor: read more And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be gathered <i>unto his peoplei>, and shall die there. And Moses did as the LORD commanded: and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation. And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount. And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they mourned for Aaron thirty days, <i>eveni> all the house of Israel. show less
And <i>wheni> king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took <i>somei> of them prisoners.
And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, i pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me:
And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, <i>andi> go with them; but yet the word which i shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost <i>parti> of the people.
And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding <i>in his tentsi> according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.
And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who <i>werei> weeping <i>beforei> the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these <i>arei> the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, <i>withi> the captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, which came from the battle.
And the officers which <i>werei> over thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, came near unto Moses:
Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which i sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me: Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the LORD. And the LORD'S anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed.
And they removed from Marah, and came unto Elim: and in Elim <i>werei> twelve fountains of water, and threescore and ten palm trees; and they pitched there.
And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first <i>dayi> of the month, <i>thati> Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the LORD had given him in commandment unto them;
And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, <i>eveni> unto Hormah.
And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, <i>wasi> thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.
And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, <i>eveni> unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
These <i>arei> the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spake unto the children of Israel, after they came forth out of Egypt,
And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, <i>eveni> all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;
Remember, <i>andi> forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.

So i turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant <i>werei> in my two hands.

For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, <i>isi> not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst <i>iti> with thy foot, as a garden of herbs:
And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, i took this woman, and when i came to her, i found her not a maid:
They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new <i>gods thati> came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.
And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand <i>wenti> a fiery law for them.
And he provided the first part for himself, because there, <i>ini> a portion of the lawgiver, <i>was hei> seated; and he came with the heads of the people, he executed the justice of the LORD, and his judgments with Israel.
And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but i wist not whence they <i>werei>:
And it came to pass <i>about the timei> of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went i wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.
For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that <i>werei> on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.
And they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought <i>themi> throughout all the way, but found <i>themi> not.
So the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all <i>thingsi> that befell them:
That the waters which came down from above stood <i>andi> rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that <i>isi> beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, <i>eveni> the salt sea, failed, <i>andi> were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.
And it came to pass, when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD were come up out of the midst of Jordan, <i>andi> the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned unto their place, and flowed over all his banks, as <i>they didi> before.
And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth <i>dayi> of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.
And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which <i>werei> on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which <i>werei> by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.
And this <i>isi> the cause why Joshua did circumcise: All the people that came out of Egypt, <i>that werei> males, <i>eveni> all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Egypt.
Now all the people that came out were circumcised: but all the people <i>that werei> born in the wilderness by the way as they came forth out of Egypt, <i>themi> they had not circumcised.
For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people <i>that werei> men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD sware that he would not shew them the land, which the LORD sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, <i>Arti> thou for us, or for our adversaries?
And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rereward came after the ark, <i>the priestsi> going on, and blowing with the trumpets.
So the ark of the LORD compassed the city, going about <i>iti> once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.
And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rereward came after the ark of the LORD, <i>the priestsi> going on, and blowing with the trumpets.
So the people shouted when <i>the priestsi> blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
And all the people, <i>even the peoplei> of war that <i>werei> with him, went up, and drew nigh, and came before the city, and pitched on the north side of Ai: now <i>there wasi> a valley between them and Ai.
And it came to pass, when the king of Ai saw <i>iti>, that they hasted and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at a time appointed, before the plain; but he wist not that <i>there werei> liers in ambush against him behind the city.
And it came to pass, when all the kings which <i>werei> on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, heard <i>thereofi>;
This our bread we took hot <i>fori> our provision out of our houses on the day we came forth to go unto you; but now, behold, it is dry, and it is mouldy:
And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they <i>werei> their neighbours, and <i>thati> they dwelt among them.
And the children of Israel journeyed, and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities <i>werei> Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kirjathjearim.
And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, <i>andi> were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: <i>they werei> more which died with hailstones than <i>theyi> whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.
And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, that the rest <i>whichi> remained of them entered into fenced cities.
And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, <i>thati> Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave's mouth, <i>which remaini> until this very day.
And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard <i>those thingsi>, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,
And it came to pass, as she came <i>unto himi>, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off <i>heri> ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?
And the men went and passed through the land, and described it by cities into seven parts in a book, and came <i>againi> to Joshua to the host at Shiloh.
And the border came down to the end of the mountain that <i>liethi> before the valley of the son of Hinnom, <i>andi> which <i>isi> in the valley of the giants on the north, and descended to the valley of Hinnom, to the side of Jebusi on the south, and descended to Enrogel,
And the second lot came forth to Simeon, <i>eveni> for the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families: and their inheritance was within the inheritance of the children of Judah.
<i>Andi> the fourth lot came out to Issachar, for the children of Issachar according to their families.
The sixth lot came out to the children of Naphtali, <i>eveni> for the children of Naphtali according to their families.
<i>Andi> the seventh lot came out for the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families.
And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, <i>which werei> of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.
And when they came unto the borders of Jordan, that <i>arei> in the land of Canaan, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by Jordan, a great altar to see to.
And it came to pass a long time after that the LORD had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old <i>andi> stricken in age.
And i brought your fathers out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and horsemen unto the Red sea.
And ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and i delivered them into your hand.
And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, <i>beingi> an hundred and ten years old.
And it came to pass, when she came <i>to himi>, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted from off <i>heri> ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wilt thou?
And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, i made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which i sware unto your fathers; and i said, i will never break my covenant with you.
And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, <i>thati> they returned, and corrupted <i>themselvesi> more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.
And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, i have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of <i>hisi> seat. And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly: And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out. The kings came <i>andi> fought, then fought the kings of Canaan in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of money.
And <i>soi> it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them;
For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; <i>fori> both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which <i>wasi> in Ophrah, that <i>pertainedi> unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide <i>iti> from the Midianites.
And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that <i>isi> by it:
And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for i have delivered it into thine hand.
And when Gideon was come, behold, <i>there wasi> a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, i dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.
So Gideon, and the hundred men that <i>werei> with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that <i>werei> in their hands.

And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom ye did upbraid me, saying, <i>Arei> the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thy men <i>that arei> weary?
And the king of the children of Ammon answered unto the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came up out of Egypt, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and unto Jordan: now therefore restore those <i>landsi> again peaceably.
Then they went along through the wilderness, and compassed the land of Edom, and the land of Moab, and came by the east side of the land of Moab, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, but came not within the border of Moab: for Arnon <i>wasi> the border of Moab.
Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over <i>untoi> the children of Ammon.
And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she <i>was hisi> only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter.
And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for i have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and i cannot go back.
And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who did with her <i>accordingi> to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man. And it was a custom in Israel,
Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance <i>wasi> like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible: but i asked him not whence he <i>wasi>, neither told he me his name:
And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband <i>wasi> not with her.
And the woman made haste, and ran, and shewed her husband, and said unto him, Behold, the man hath appeared unto me, that came unto me the <i>otheri> day.
And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him, <i>Arti> thou the man that spakest unto the woman? And he said, i <i>ami>.
For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on <i>iti>, and fell on their faces to the ground.
And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, i have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife.
And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and <i>he hadi> nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson's wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father's house with fire: have ye called us to take that we have? <i>is iti> not <i>soi>?
But it came to pass within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, i will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.
<i>Andi> when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that <i>werei> upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
But God clave an hollow place that <i>wasi> in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof Enhakkore, which <i>isi> in Lehi unto this day.
And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name <i>wasi> Delilah.
And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength <i>liethi>, and by what <i>meansi> we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred <i>piecesi> of silver.
And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, <i>soi> that his soul was vexed unto death;
Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought <i>himi> up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.
And the man departed out of the city from Bethlehemjudah to sojourn where he could find <i>a placei>: and he came to mount Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed.
Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that <i>werei> therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and <i>there wasi> no magistrate in the land, that might put <i>themi> to shame in <i>anyi> thing; and they <i>werei> far from the Zidonians, and had no business with <i>anyi> man.
And they came unto their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol: and their brethren said unto them, What <i>sayi> ye?
And they turned thitherward, and came to the house of the young man the Levite, <i>eveni> unto the house of Micah, and saluted him.
And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, <i>andi> came in thither, <i>andi> took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men <i>that werei> appointed with weapons of war.
And they took <i>the thingsi> which Micah had made, and the priest which he had, and came unto Laish, unto a people <i>that werei> at quiet and secure: and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with fire.
And it came to pass in those days, when <i>there wasi> no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite sojourning on the side of mount Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Bethlehemjudah. And his concubine played the whore against him, and went away from him unto her father's house to Bethlehemjudah, and was there four whole months. And her husband arose, and went after her, to speak friendly unto her, <i>andi> to bring her again, having his servant with him, and a couple of asses: and she brought him into her father's house: and when the father of the damsel saw him, he rejoiced to meet him. And there came against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was sore: but they knew not that evil <i>wasi> near them.
Therefore they turned <i>their backsi> before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and them which <i>camei> out of the cities they destroyed in the midst of them.
And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of <i>everyi> city, as the beast, and all that came to hand: also they set on fire all the cities that they came to.
And the children of Israel said, Who <i>is therei> among all the tribes of Israel that came not up with the congregation unto the LORD? For they had made a great oath concerning him that came not up to the LORD to Mizpeh, saying, He shall surely be put to death.
And they said, What one <i>is therei> of the tribes of Israel that came not up to Mizpeh to the LORD? And, behold, there came none to the camp from Jabeshgilead to the assembly.
And the name of the man <i>wasi> Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.
So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, <i>Isi> this Naomi?
And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field <i>belongingi> unto Boaz, who <i>wasi> of the kindred of Elimelech.
And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It <i>isi> the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:
And she said, i pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.
And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who <i>arti> thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.
Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, <i>sayingi>, Because i have asked him of the LORD.
And the priests' custom with the people <i>was, thati>, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;
And he struck <i>iti> into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.

And his daughter in law, Phinehas' wife, was with child, <i>neari> to be delivered: and when she heard the tidings that the ark of God was taken, and that her father in law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and travailed; for her pains came upon her.
And the cart came into the field of Joshua, a Bethshemite, and stood there, where <i>there wasi> a great stone: and they clave the wood of the cart, and offered the kine a burnt offering unto the LORD.
And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until <i>they camei> under Bethcar.
And they answered them, and said, He is; behold, <i>he isi> before you: make haste now, for he came to day to the city; for <i>there isi> a sacrifice of the people to day in the high place:
And they went up into the city: <i>andi> when they were come into the city, behold, Samuel came out against them, for to go up to the high place.
And they arose early: and it came to pass about the spring of the day, that Samuel called Saul to the top of the house, saying, Up, that i may send thee away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, abroad.
And it was <i>soi>, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.
And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What <i>isi> this <i>thati> is come unto the son of Kish? <i>Isi> Saul also among the prophets?
And Saul's uncle said unto him and to his servant, Whither went ye? And he said, To seek the asses: and when we saw that <i>they werei> no where, we came to Samuel.
And, behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, What <i>ailethi> the people that they weep? And they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.
And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent <i>themi> throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the LORD fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
And they said unto the messengers that came, Thus shall ye say unto the men of Jabeshgilead, To morrow, by <i>that timei> the sun be hot, ye shall have help. And the messengers came and shewed <i>iti> to the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.
And it was <i>soi> on the morrow, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the host in the morning watch, and slew the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it came to pass, that they which remained were scattered, so that two of them were not left together.
And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay; but a king shall reign over us: when the LORD your God <i>wasi> your king.
And the Philistines gathered themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which <i>isi> on the sea shore in multitude: and they came up, and pitched in Michmash, eastward from Bethaven.
And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel <i>had appointedi>: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.
And the spoilers came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies: one company turned unto the way <i>that leadeth toi> Ophrah, unto the land of Shual:
So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that <i>werei> with Saul and Jonathan: but with Saul and with Jonathan his son was there found.
Now it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines' garrison, that <i>isi> on the other side. But he told not his father.
And it came to pass, while Saul talked unto the priest, that the noise that <i>wasi> in the host of the Philistines went on and increased: and Saul said unto the priest, Withdraw thine hand.
And Saul and all the people that <i>werei> with him assembled themselves, and they came to the battle: and, behold, every man's sword was against his fellow, <i>and there wasi> a very great discomfiture.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, i remember <i>thati> which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid <i>waiti> for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest i destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed <i>bei> thou of the LORD: i have performed the commandment of the LORD.
And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD'S anointed <i>isi> before him.
And it came to pass, when the <i>evili> spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.
And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard <i>themi>.
And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield <i>wenti> before him.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and <i>there wasi> a javelin in Saul's hand.
Then the princes of the Philistines went forth: and it came to pass, after they went forth, <i>thati> David behaved himself more wisely than all the servants of Saul; so that his name was much set by.
Then went he also to Ramah, and came to a great well that <i>isi> in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where <i>arei> Samuel and David? And <i>onei> said, Behold, <i>they bei> at Naioth in Ramah.
And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have i done? what <i>isi> mine iniquity? and what <i>isi> my sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life?
And it came to pass on the morrow, <i>which wasi> the second <i>dayi> of the month, that David's place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day?
Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why <i>arti> thou alone, and no man with thee?
And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women <i>have beeni> kept from us about these three days, since i came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and <i>the bread isi> in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.
Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father's house, the priests that <i>werei> in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.
And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, <i>thati> he came down <i>withi> an ephod in his hand.
Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which <i>isi> on the south of Jeshimon?
Saul also and his men went to seek <i>himi>. And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard <i>thati>, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.
And it came to pass, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David <i>isi> in the wilderness of Engedi.
And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where <i>wasi> a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.
And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, <i>Isi> this thy voice, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.
And it was <i>so, asi> she rode on the ass, that she came down by the covert of the hill, and, behold, David and his men came down against her; and she met them.
And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart <i>wasi> merry within him, for he <i>wasi> very drunken: wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.
But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became <i>asi> a stone.
And it came to pass about ten days <i>afteri>, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.
And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, <i>which isi> before Jeshimon?
And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which <i>isi> before Jeshimon, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.
And David said to Abner, <i>Arti> not thou a <i>valianti> man? and who <i>isi> like to thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy lord.
And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, i pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me <i>himi> up, whom i shall name unto thee.
And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, thine handmaid hath obeyed thy voice, and i have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto thy words which thou spakest unto me.
So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, <i>it wasi> burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.
So David went, he and the six hundred men that <i>werei> with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed.
And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk <i>anyi> water, three days and three nights.
And David came to the two hundred men, which were so faint that they could not follow David, whom they had made also to abide at the brook Besor: and they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people that <i>werei> with him: and when David came near to the people, he saluted them.
And when David came to Ziklag, he sent of the spoil unto the elders of Judah, <i>eveni> to his friends, saying, Behold a present for you of the spoil of the enemies of the LORD;
And when the men of Israel that <i>werei> on the other side of the valley, and <i>theyi> that <i>werei> on the other side Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and <i>soi> it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.
And it came to pass after this, that David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall i go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall i go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.
And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, <i>Thati> the men of Jabeshgilead <i>were theyi> that buried Saul.
Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth <i>ribi>, that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, <i>thati> as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.
And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which <i>was ini> Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.
So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men that <i>werei> with him a feast.

When Joab and all the host that <i>wasi> with him were come, they told Joab, saying, Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and he is gone in peace.
Then Joab came to the king, and said, What hast thou done? behold, Abner came unto thee; why <i>isi> it <i>thati> thou hast sent him away, and he is quite gone?
And when all the people came to cause David to eat meat while it was yet day, David sware, saying, So do God to me, and more also, if i taste bread, or ought else, till the sun be down.
And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son <i>that wasi> lame of <i>hisi> feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name <i>wasi> Mephibosheth.
And they came thither into the midst of the house, <i>as thoughi> they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth <i>ribi>: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we <i>arei> thy bone and thy flesh.
But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard <i>of iti>, and went down to the hold.
And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth <i>his handi> to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook <i>iti>.
Then said David, i will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father shewed kindness unto me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And David's servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.
And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entering in of the gate: and the Syrians of Zoba, and of Rehob, and Ishtob, and Maacah, <i>werei> by themselves in the field.
And Hadarezer sent, and brought out the Syrians that <i>werei> beyond the river: and they came to Helam; and Shobach the captain of the host of Hadarezer <i>wenti> before them.
And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth <i>to battlei>, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.
And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman <i>wasi> very beautiful to look upon.
And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent <i>iti> by the hand of Uriah.
And it came to pass, when Joab observed the city, that he assigned Uriah unto a place where he knew that valiant men <i>werei>.
Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed <i>himselfi>, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat. Then said his servants unto him, What thing <i>isi> this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, <i>while it wasi> alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread. And he said, While the child was yet alive, i fasted and wept: for i said, Who can tell <i>whetheri> GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name <i>wasi> Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.
And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheepshearers in Baalhazor, which <i>isi> beside Ephraim: and Absalom invited all the king's sons.
And Absalom came to the king, and said, Behold now, thy servant hath sheepshearers; let the king, i beseech thee, and his servants go with thy servant.
Then Joab arose, and came to Absalom unto <i>hisi> house, and said unto him, Wherefore have thy servants set my field on fire?
And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was <i>soi>, that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom called unto him, and said, Of what city <i>arti> thou? And he said, Thy servant <i>isi> of one of the tribes of Israel.
And it was <i>soi>, that when any man came nigh <i>to himi> to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took him, and kissed him.
And it came to pass after forty years, that Absalom said unto the king, i pray thee, let me go and pay my vow, which i have vowed unto the LORD, in Hebron.
And it came to pass, that <i>wheni> David was come to the top <i>of the mounti>, where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head:
And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name <i>wasi> Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.
And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now <i>may thisi> Benjamite <i>do iti>? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him.
And the king, and all the people that <i>werei> with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.
And when Absalom's servants came to the woman to the house, they said, Where <i>isi> Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said unto them, They be gone over the brook of water. And when they had sought and could not find <i>themi>, they returned to Jerusalem.
And the king said unto them, What seemeth you best i will do. And the king stood by the gate side, and all the people came out by hundreds and by thousands.
And the watchman cried, and told the king. And the king said, If he <i>bei> alone, <i>there isi> tidings in his mouth. And he came apace, and drew near.
And Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite, which <i>wasi> of Bahurim, hasted and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David.

And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which <i>wasi> of the sons of the giant.
And came to the strong hold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites: and they went out to the south of Judah, <i>eveni> to Beersheba.
So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer i shall return to him that sent me.
And while he yet spake, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came: and Adonijah said unto him, Come in; for thou <i>arti> a valiant man, and bringest good tidings.
But shew kindness unto the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those that eat at thy table: for so they came to me when i fled because of Absalom thy brother.
And, behold, <i>thou hasti> with thee Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Bahurim, which cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when i went to Mahanaim: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and i sware to him by the LORD, saying, i will not put thee to death with the sword.
And Benaiah came to the tabernacle of the LORD, and said unto him, Thus saith the king, Come forth. And he said, Nay; but i will die here. And Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, Thus said Joab, and thus he answered me.
And it came to pass at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei ran away unto Achish son of Maachah king of Gath. And they told Shimei, saying, Behold, thy servants <i>bei> in Gath.
And Solomon awoke; and, behold, <i>it wasi> a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
Then came there two women, <i>that werei> harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.
And it came to pass the third day after that i was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we <i>werei> together; <i>there wasi> no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.
And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed <i>bei> the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.
And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which <i>isi> the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.

And they came to Ophir, and fetched from thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought <i>iti> to king Solomon.
Howbeit i believed not the words, until i came, and mine eyes had seen <i>iti>: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which i heard.
And a chariot came up and went out of Egypt for six hundred <i>shekelsi> of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, did they bring <i>themi> out by their means.
For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, <i>thati> his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as <i>wasi> the heart of David his father.
And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two <i>werei> alone in the field:
And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard <i>of iti>, (for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;)
And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, <i>to witi>, for the prophet whom he had brought back.
And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told <i>iti> in the city where the old prophet dwelt.
And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When i am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God <i>isi> buried; lay my bones beside his bones:
And it was <i>soi>, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself <i>to bei> another? for i <i>ami> sent to thee <i>withi> heavy <i>tidingsi>.
And Jeroboam's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah: <i>andi> when she came to the threshold of the door, the child died;
And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, <i>thati> Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem:
And it came to pass, when he reigned, <i>thati> he smote all the house of Jeroboam; he left not to Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him, according unto the saying of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite:
And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, <i>thati> he slew all the house of Baasha: he left him not one that pisseth against a wall, neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.
So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman <i>wasi> there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, i pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that i may drink.
And it came to pass after these things, <i>thati> the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.
And it came to pass <i>afteri> many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and i will send rain upon the earth.
And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, <i>Arti> thou he that troubleth Israel?
And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD <i>bei> God, follow him: but if Baal, <i>theni> follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he <i>isi> a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, <i>ori> peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.
And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the <i>timei> of the offering of the <i>eveningi> sacrifice, that <i>there wasi> neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.
And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD <i>that wasi> broken down.
And it came to pass at <i>the time ofi> the offering of the <i>eveningi> sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou <i>arti> God in Israel, and <i>thati> i <i>ami> thy servant, and <i>thati> i have done all these things at thy word.
And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare <i>thy charioti>, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.
And when he saw <i>thati>, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which <i>belongethi> to Judah, and left his servant there.
But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for i <i>ami> not better than my fathers.
And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise <i>andi> eat; because the journey <i>isi> too great for thee.
And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD <i>camei> to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
And it was <i>soi>, when Elijah heard <i>iti>, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, <i>there camei> a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
And the messengers came again, and said, Thus speaketh Benhadad, saying, Although i have sent unto thee, saying, Thou shalt deliver me thy silver, and thy gold, and thy wives, and thy children;
And it came to pass, when <i>Benhadadi> heard this message, as he <i>wasi> drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said unto his servants, Set <i>yourselves in arrayi>. And they set <i>themselves in arrayi> against the city.
And, behold, there came a prophet unto Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou seen all this great multitude? behold, i will deliver it into thine hand this day; and thou shalt know that i <i>ami> the LORD.
And there came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD <i>isi> God of the hills, but he <i>isi> not God of the valleys, therefore will i deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that i <i>ami> the LORD.
But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and <i>therei> a wall fell upon twenty and seven thousand of the men <i>that werei> left. And Benhadad fled, and came into the city, into an inner chamber.
So they girded sackcloth on their loins, and <i>puti> ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, Thy servant Benhadad saith, i pray thee, let me live. And he said, <i>Isi> he yet alive? he <i>isi> my brother.
Now the men did diligently observe whether <i>any thing would comei> from him, and did hastily catch <i>iti>: and they said, Thy brother Benhadad. Then he said, Go ye, bring him. Then Benhadad came forth to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.
And it came to pass after these things, <i>thati> Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which <i>wasi> in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.
And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, i will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.
And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, <i>eveni> against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.
So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver <i>iti> into the hand of the king.
And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, i will persuade him.
And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it <i>isi> the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.
And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it <i>wasi> not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, <i>Is iti> not because <i>there isi> not a God in Israel, <i>thati> thou sendest to inquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
And he said unto them, What manner of man <i>was hei> which came up to meet you, and told you these words?
And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If i <i>bei> a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
And Elijah answered and said unto them, If i <i>bei> a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, i pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.
And the sons of the prophets that <i>werei> at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, i know <i>iti>; hold ye your peace.
And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, i pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, <i>Asi> the LORD liveth, and <i>asi> thy soul liveth, i will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
And the sons of the prophets that <i>werei> at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, i know <i>iti>; hold ye your peace.
And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what i shall do for thee, before i be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, i pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, <i>there appearedi> a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
And when the sons of the prophets which <i>werei> to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did i not say unto you, Go not?
And when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them: but they went forward smiting the Moabites, even in <i>theiri> country.
And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, <i>There isi> not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
So she went and came unto the man of God to mount Carmel. And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, <i>yonder isi> that Shunammite:
And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul <i>isi> vexed within her: and the LORD hath hid <i>iti> from me, and hath not told me.
And Elisha came again to Gilgal: and <i>there wasi> a dearth in the land; and the sons of the prophets <i>werei> sitting before him: and he said unto his servant, Set on the great pot, and seethe pottage for the sons of the prophets.
And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered thereof wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred <i>themi> into the pot of pottage: for they knew <i>themi> not.
So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O <i>thoui> man of God, <i>there isi> death in the pot. And they could not eat <i>thereofi>.
And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, <i>Ami> i God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, i pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.
And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, <i>ifi> the prophet had bid thee <i>do somei> great thing, wouldest thou not have done <i>iti>? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now i know that <i>there isi> no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, i pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.
And when he came to the tower, he took <i>themi> from their hand, and bestowed <i>themi> in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed.
And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, i pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.
And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these <i>meni>, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, <i>they werei> in the midst of Samaria.
And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, <i>he hadi> sackcloth within upon his flesh.
But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and <i>the kingi> sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: <i>isi> not the sound of his master's feet behind him?
And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil <i>isi> of the LORD; what should i wait for the LORD any longer?
And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid <i>iti>; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence <i>alsoi>, and went and hid <i>iti>.
So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, <i>there wasi> no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they <i>werei>.
And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this <i>isi> the woman, and this <i>isi> her son, whom Elisha restored to life.
So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Benhadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall i recover of this disease?
So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me <i>thati> thou shouldest surely recover.
And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped <i>iti> in water, and spread <i>iti> on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.
And when he came, behold, the captains of the host <i>werei> sitting; and he said, i have an errand to thee, O captain. And Jehu said, Unto which of all us? And he said, To thee, O captain.
Then Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and <i>onei> said unto him, <i>Isi> all well? wherefore came this mad <i>fellowi> to thee? And he said unto them, Ye know the man, and his communication.
And there stood a watchman on the tower in Jezreel, and he spied the company of Jehu as he came, and said, i see a company. And Joram said, Take an horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, <i>Is iti> peace?
So there went one on horseback to meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, <i>Is iti> peace? And Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came to them, but he cometh not again.
Then he sent out a second on horseback, which came to them, and said, Thus saith the king, <i>Is iti> peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me.
And the watchman told, saying, He came even unto them, and cometh not again: and the driving <i>isi> like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he driveth furiously.

Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This <i>isi> the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:
And it came to pass, when the letter came to them, that they took the king's sons, and slew seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent him <i>themi> to Jezreel.
And it came to pass in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, Ye <i>bei> righteous: behold, i conspired against my master, and slew him: but who slew all these?
And he arose and departed, and came to Samaria. <i>Andi> as he <i>wasi> at the shearing house in the way,
And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, <i>andi> slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast <i>themi> out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.
And the captains over the hundreds did according to all <i>thingsi> that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.
And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard <i>andi> of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the LORD.
And it was <i>soi>, when they saw that <i>there wasi> much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags, and told the money that was found in the house of the LORD.
And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band <i>of meni>; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
This <i>wasi> the word of the LORD which he spake unto Jehu, saying, Thy sons shall sit on the throne of Israel unto the fourth <i>generationi>. And so it came to pass.
<i>Andi> Pul the king of Assyria came against the land: and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.
Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome <i>himi>.
And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus: so Urijah the priest made <i>iti> against king Ahaz came from Damascus.
Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, <i>thati> Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which <i>wasi> the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, <i>thati> Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.
And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which <i>isi> in the highway of the fuller's field.
And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which <i>wasi> over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which <i>wasi> over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with <i>theiri> clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard <i>iti>, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.
And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they <i>werei> all dead corpses.
Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, <i>eveni> from Babylon.
Because they have done <i>that which wasi> evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day.
And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, <i>thati> the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying,
Then he said, What title <i>isi> that that i see? And the men of the city told him, <i>It isi> the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Bethel.
Surely at the commandment of the LORD came <i>thisi> upon Judah, to remove <i>themi> out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did;
And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth <i>dayi> of the month, <i>thati> Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.
And in the fifth month, on the seventh <i>dayi> of the month, which <i>isi> the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem:
And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth <i>dayi> of the month, <i>thati> Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the year that he began to reign did lift up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison;
And the families of the scribes which dwelt at Jabez; the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, <i>andi> Suchathites. These <i>arei> the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the house of Rechab.
And these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their rooms: because <i>there wasi> pasture there for their flocks.
For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him <i>camei> the chief ruler; but the birthright <i>wasi> Joseph's:)
And Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son, and Ezer, and Elead, whom the men of Gath <i>that werei> born in <i>thati> land slew, because they came down to take away their cattle.
And when all the men of Israel that <i>werei> in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
Now these <i>arei> they that came to David to Ziklag, while he yet kept himself close because of Saul the son of Kish: and they <i>werei> among the mighty men, helpers of the war.
Then the spirit came upon Amasai, <i>who wasi> chief of the captains, <i>and he saidi>, Thine <i>are wei>, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace <i>bei> unto thee, and peace <i>bei> to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.
And there fell <i>somei> of Manasseh to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle: but they helped them not: for the lords of the Philistines upon advisement sent him away, saying, He will fall to his master Saul to <i>the jeopardy ofi> our heads.
For at <i>thati> time day by day there came to David to help him, until <i>it wasi> a great host, like the host of God.

And it came to pass, <i>asi> the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.
Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, i dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD <i>remainethi> under curtains.
And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who <i>ami> i, O LORD God, and what <i>isi> mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
And David said, i will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father shewed kindness to me. And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.
And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array before the gate of the city: and the kings that were come <i>werei> by themselves in the field.
And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set <i>the battlei> in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.
And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out <i>to battlei>, Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it.
And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Sippai, <i>that wasi> of the children of the giant: and they were subdued.
And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshingfloor, and bowed himself to David with <i>hisi> face to the ground.
Now the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph: the second to Gedaliah, who with his brethren and sons <i>werei> twelve:
To Shuppim and Hosah <i>the lot came forthi> westward, with the gate Shallecheth, by the causeway of the going up, ward against ward.
Now the children of Israel after their number, <i>to witi>, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course <i>werei> twenty and four thousand.
Then Solomon came <i>from his journeyi> to the high place that <i>wasi> at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.

And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, <i>sayingi>, For <i>he isi> good; for his mercy <i>endurethi> for ever.
Howbeit i believed not their words, until i came, and mine eyes had seen <i>iti>: and, behold, the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: <i>fori> thou exceedest the fame that i heard.
And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who <i>wasi> in Egypt, whither he had fled from the presence of Solomon the king, heard <i>iti>, that Jeroboam returned out of Egypt.
And it came to pass, <i>thati> in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD,
With twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people <i>werei> without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.
And he took the fenced cities which <i>pertainedi> to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.
Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and <i>toi> the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have i also left you in the hand of Shishak.
And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; <i>thereforei> i will not destroy them, but i will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
And in those times <i>there wasi> no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations <i>werei> upon all the inhabitants of the countries.
And it came to pass, when Baasha heard <i>iti>, that he left off building of Ramah, and let his work cease.
Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, i will entice him. And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith?
And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It <i>isi> the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them <i>to departi> from him.
It came to pass after this also, <i>thati> the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them <i>otheri> beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they <i>bei> in Hazazontamar, which <i>isi> Engedi.
And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask <i>helpi> of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.
And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they <i>werei> dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.
And it came to pass after this, <i>thati> Joash was minded to repair the house of the LORD.
Now it came to pass, that at what time the chest was brought unto the king's office by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that <i>there wasi> much money, the king's scribe and the high priest's officer came and emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to his place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance.
And it came to pass at the end of the year, <i>thati> the host of Syria came up against him: and they came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people, and sent all the spoil of them unto the king of Damascus.
But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD <i>isi> not with Israel, <i>to wit, withi> all the children of Ephraim.
Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up <i>to bei> his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them.
And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that <i>the kingi> said unto him, Art thou made of the king's counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, i know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.
But Amaziah would not hear; for it <i>camei> of God, that he might deliver them into the hand <i>of their enemiesi>, because they sought after the gods of Edom.
But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name <i>wasi> Oded: and he went out before the host that came to Samaria, and said unto them, Behold, because the LORD God of your fathers was wroth with Judah, he hath delivered them into your hand, and ye have slain them in a rage <i>thati> reacheth up unto heaven.
Now they began on the first <i>dayi> of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the LORD: so they sanctified the house of the LORD in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.
Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came <i>upi> to his holy dwelling place, <i>eveni> unto heaven.
And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel brought in abundance the firstfruits of corn, wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all <i>thingsi> brought they in abundantly.
Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, <i>bothi> he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.
Now these <i>arei> the children of the province that went up out of the captivity, of those which had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away unto Babylon, and came again unto Jerusalem and Judah, every one unto his city;
And <i>somei> of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the house of the LORD which <i>isi> at Jerusalem, offered freely for the house of God to set it up in his place:
Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye <i>doi>; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.
Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls <i>thereofi>, and joined the foundations.
But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this <i>matteri>.
Then came the same Sheshbazzar, <i>andi> laid the foundation of the house of God which <i>isi> in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and <i>yeti> it is not finished.
And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which <i>wasi> in the seventh year of the king.
Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, <i>doingi> according to their abominations, <i>eveni> of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.
The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as i was in Shushan the palace,
That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and <i>certaini> men of Judah; and i asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
And it came to pass, when i heard these words, that i sat down and wept, and mourned <i>certaini> days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,
And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, <i>thati> wine <i>wasi> before him: and i took up the wine, and gave <i>iti> unto the king. Now i had not been <i>beforetimei> sad in his presence.
Then i came to the governors beyond the river, and gave them the king's letters. Now the king had sent captains of the army and horsemen with me.
But it came to pass, <i>thati> when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, <i>andi> that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth,
And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence ye shall return unto us <i>they will be upon youi>.
And it came to pass from that time forth, <i>thati> the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers <i>werei> behind all the house of Judah.
Moreover <i>there werei> at my table an hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, beside those that came unto us from among the heathen that <i>arei> about us.
Now it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that i had builded the wall, and <i>thati> there was no breach left therein; (though at that time i had not set up the doors upon the gates;)
Afterward i came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who <i>wasi> shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.
And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard <i>thereofi>, and all the heathen that <i>werei> about us saw <i>these thingsi>, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.
Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and <i>the lettersi> of Tobiah came unto them.
Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and i had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
And my God put into mine heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And i found a register of the genealogy of them which came up at the first, and found written therein,
These <i>arei> the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity, of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and came again to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one unto his city;
Who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. The number, <i>i sayi>, of the men of the people of Israel <i>was thisi>;
So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and <i>somei> of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel <i>werei> in their cities.
But in all this <i>timei> was not i at Jerusalem: for in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon came i unto the king, and after certain days obtained i leave of the king:
And i came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God.
And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, i commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and <i>somei> of my servants set i at the gates, <i>thati> there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day.
Then i testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do <i>soi> again, i will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no <i>morei> on the sabbath.
Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this <i>isi> Ahasuerus which reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, <i>overi> an hundred and seven and twenty provinces:)
For <i>thisi> deed of the queen shall come abroad unto all women, so that they shall despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported, The king Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not.
Then thus came <i>everyi> maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king's house.
Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's matters would stand: for he had told them that he <i>wasi> a Jew.
And came even before the king's gate: for none <i>mighti> enter into the king's gate clothed with sackcloth.
And in every province, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, <i>there wasi> great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.
So Esther's maids and her chamberlains came and told <i>iti> her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him: but he received <i>iti> not.
Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on <i>heri> royal <i>appareli>, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.
And while they <i>werei> yet talking with him, came the king's chamberlains, and hasted to bring Haman unto the banquet that Esther had prepared.
On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews' enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he <i>wasi> unto her.
But when <i>Estheri> came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.
While he <i>wasi> yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and i only am escaped alone to tell thee.
While he <i>wasi> yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters <i>werei> eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:
And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and i only am escaped alone to tell thee.
Why died i not from the womb? <i>whyi> did i <i>noti> give up the ghost when i came out of the belly?
The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and i caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.
They came <i>upon mei> as a wide breaking in <i>of watersi>: in the desolation they rolled themselves <i>upon mei>.
When i looked for good, then evil came <i>unto mei>: and when i waited for light, there came darkness.
In my distress i called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, <i>eveni> into his ears.
When the wicked, <i>eveni> mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

Therefore the LORD heard <i>thisi>, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;
The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen <i>meni> of Israel.
Therefore came i forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and i have found thee.
And this also <i>isi> a sore evil, <i>thati> in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind?
<i>There wasi> a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it:
Thy teeth <i>arei> like a flock <i>of sheep that are eveni> shorn, which came up from the washing; whereof every one bear twins, and none <i>isi> barren among them.
And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, <i>thati> Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.
Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, <i>thati> Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the defenced cities of Judah, and took them.
Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, that <i>wasi> over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with <i>theiri> clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard <i>iti>, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.
Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, <i>eveni> from Babylon.
The isles saw <i>iti>, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.
i have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and i shewed them; i did <i>themi> suddenly, and they came to pass.
i have even from the beginning declared <i>iti> to thee; before it came to pass i shewed <i>iti> thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.
Wherefore, when i came, <i>was therei> no man? when i called, <i>was therei> none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have i no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke i dry up the sea, i make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because <i>there isi> no water, and dieth for thirst.
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And i said, i see a rod of an almond tree.
And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And i said, i see a seething pot; and the face thereof <i>isi> toward the north.
Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day i have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending <i>themi>:
And they have built the high places of Tophet, which <i>isi> in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which i commanded <i>themi> not, neither came it into my heart.
We looked for peace, but no good <i>came; andi> for a time of health, and behold trouble!
And it came to pass after many days, that the LORD said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which i commanded thee to hide there.
And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, <i>andi> found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads.
As for me, i have not hastened from <i>beingi> a pastor to follow thee: neither have i desired the woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was <i>righti> before thee.
They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire <i>fori> burnt offerings unto Baal, which i commanded not, nor spake <i>iti>, neither came <i>iti> into my mind:
Wherefore came i forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?
The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that <i>wasi> the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon;
Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded <i>himi> to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, Thou shalt surely die.
When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king's house unto the house of the LORD, and sat down in the entry of the new gate of the LORD'S <i>housei>.
And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, <i>andi> in the fifth month, <i>thati> Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, which <i>wasi> of Gibeon, spake unto me in the house of the LORD, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, i have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon. Within two full years will i bring again into this place all the vessels of the LORD'S house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon: And i will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, saith the LORD: for i will break the yoke of the king of Babylon. read more Then the prophet Jeremiah said unto the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of the LORD, Even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: the LORD do so: the LORD perform thy words which thou hast prophesied, to bring again the vessels of the LORD'S house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place. Nevertheless hear thou now this word that i speak in thine ears, and in the ears of all the people; The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence. The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, <i>theni> shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him. Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and brake it. And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Even so will i break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way. Then the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah <i>the propheti>, after that Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast broken the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron. For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; i have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and i have given him the beasts of the field also. Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie. Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, i will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD. So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month. show less
Then the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah <i>the propheti>, after that Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying,

So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, i pray thee, that <i>isi> in Anathoth, which <i>isi> in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance <i>isi> thine, and the redemption <i>isi> thine; buy <i>iti> for thyself. Then i knew that this <i>wasi> the word of the LORD.
And they built the high places of Baal, which <i>arei> in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through <i>the firei> unto Molech; which i commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
<i>This isi> the word that came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, after that the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people which <i>werei> at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty unto them;
And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, <i>thati> this word came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, <i>thati> they proclaimed a fast before the LORD to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.
And it came to pass, <i>thati> when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast <i>iti> into the fire that <i>wasi> on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that <i>wasi> on the hearth.
And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, <i>eveni> Nergalsharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, with all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon.
And it came to pass, <i>thati> when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.
Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that <i>werei> in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,
Now it came to pass in the seventh month, <i>thati> Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they did eat bread together in Mizpah.
And it came to pass the second day after he had slain Gedaliah, and no man knew <i>iti>,
That there came certain from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, <i>eveni> fourscore men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring <i>themi> to the house of the LORD.
And it was <i>soi>, when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah slew them, <i>and cast themi> into the midst of the pit, he, and the men that <i>werei> with him.
Now it came to pass, <i>thati> when all the people which <i>werei> with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that <i>werei> with him, then they were glad.
And it came to pass, <i>thati> when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking unto all the people all the words of the LORD their God, for which the LORD their God had sent him to them, <i>eveni> all these words,
So they came into the land of Egypt: for they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: thus came they <i>eveni> to Tahpanhes.
The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it <i>noti> into his mind?
And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth <i>dayi> of the month, <i>thati> Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it, and built forts against it round about.
Now in the fifth month, in the tenth <i>dayi> of the month, which <i>wasi> the nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, <i>whichi> served the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem,
And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the five and twentieth <i>dayi> of the month, <i>thati> Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the <i>firsti> year of his reign lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him forth out of prison,
Her filthiness <i>isi> in her skirts; she remembereth not her last end; therefore she came down wonderfully: she had no comforter. O LORD, behold my affliction: for the enemy hath magnified <i>himselfi>.
Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth <i>monthi>, in the fifth <i>dayi> of the month, as i <i>wasi> among the captives by the river of Chebar, <i>thati> the heavens were opened, and i saw visions of God.
And i looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness <i>wasi> about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.
Also out of the midst thereof <i>camei> the likeness of four living creatures. And this <i>wasi> their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.
Then i came to them of the captivity at Telabib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and i sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.
Then said i, Ah Lord GOD! behold, my soul hath not been polluted: for from my youth up even till now have i not eaten of that which dieth of itself, or is torn in pieces; neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth.
And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth <i>monthi>, in the fifth <i>dayi> of the month, <i>asi> i sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me.
And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them <i>wasi> clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brasen altar.
And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and i was left, that i fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem?
And it came to pass, <i>thati> when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubims; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels.
And it came to pass, when i prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell i down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?
And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth <i>monthi>, the tenth <i>dayi> of the month, <i>thati> certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the LORD, and sat before me.
And furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come from far, unto whom a messenger <i>wasi> sent; and, lo, they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself, paintedst thy eyes, and deckedst thyself with ornaments,
Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth <i>dayi> of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first <i>dayi> of the month, <i>thati> the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

And it came to pass in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in the first <i>dayi> of the month, <i>thati> the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
It came to pass also in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth <i>dayi> of the month, <i>thati> the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth <i>monthi>, in the fifth <i>dayi> of the month, <i>thati> one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten.
Now the hand of the LORD was upon me in the evening, afore he that was escaped came; and had opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and i was no more dumb.
So i prophesied as i was commanded: and as i prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
And when i beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but <i>there wasi> no breath in them.
So i prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
Then came he unto the gate which looketh toward the east, and went up the stairs thereof, and measured the threshold of the gate, <i>which wasi> one reed broad; and the other threshold <i>of the gate, which wasi> one reed broad.
And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice <i>wasi> like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory.
And <i>it wasi> according to the appearance of the vision which i saw, <i>eveni> according to the vision that i saw when i came to destroy the city: and the visions <i>werei> like the vision that i saw by the river Chebar; and i fell upon my face.
And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect <i>isi> toward the east.
Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house <i>stood towardi> the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south <i>sidei> of the altar.
As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came <i>into thy mindi> upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.
Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, <i>andi> spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come <i>hitheri>. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.
Then came in the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers: and i told the dream before them; but they did not make known unto me the interpretation thereof.
But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name <i>wasi> Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom <i>isi> the spirit of the holy gods: and before him i told the dream, <i>sayingi>,
i saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven;
Then came in all the king's wise <i>meni>: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.
<i>Nowi> the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: <i>andi> the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:
Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask <i>a petitioni> of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing <i>isi> true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: <i>andi> the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast <i>themi> into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.
i considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn <i>werei> eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
i saw in the night visions, and, behold, <i>onei> like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
i came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.
And of the ten horns that <i>werei> in his head, and <i>ofi> the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even <i>ofi> that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look <i>wasi> more stout than his fellows.
And i saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when i saw, that i <i>wasi> at Shushan <i>ini> the palace, which <i>isi> in the province of Elam; and i saw in a vision, and i was by the river of Ulai.
Then i lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had <i>twoi> horns: and the <i>twoi> horns <i>werei> high; but one <i>wasi> higher than the other, and the higher came up last.
And as i was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat <i>hadi> a notable horn between his eyes.
And he came to the ram that had <i>twoi> horns, which i had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power.
And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant <i>landi>.
And it came to pass, when i, <i>eveni> i Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.
So he came near where i stood: and when he came, i was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end <i>shall bei> the vision.
In the first year of his reign i Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.
At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and i am come to shew <i>theei>; for thou <i>arti> greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.
i ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did i anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and i remained there with the kings of Persia.
Then there came again and touched me <i>onei> like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,
The word of the LORD that came unto Hosea, the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, <i>andi> Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.
And i will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.
And it came to pass, <i>thati> when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then i said, O Lord GOD, forgive, i beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he <i>isi> small.
If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave <i>somei> grapes?
For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered <i>himi> with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, <i>It isi> better for me to die than to live.
The word of the LORD that came to Micah the Morasthite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, <i>andi> Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.
Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: their rejoicing <i>wasi> as to devour the poor secretly.
Ye looked for much, and, lo, <i>it camei> to little; and when ye brought <i>iti> home, i did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that <i>isi> waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.
In the seventh <i>monthi>, in the one and twentieth <i>dayi> of the month, came the word of the LORD by the prophet Haggai, saying,
<i>According toi> the word that i covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.
In the four and twentieth <i>dayi> of the ninth <i>monthi>, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,

Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which <i>isi> the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,
Then lifted i up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind <i>wasi> in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven.
And i turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains <i>werei> mountains of brass.
And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, <i>thati> the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth <i>dayi> of the ninth month, <i>eveni> in Chisleu;
Yea, they made their hearts <i>asi> an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.

For before these days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither <i>was there anyi> peace to him that went out or came in because of the affliction: for i set all men every one against his neighbour.
And it shall come to pass, <i>thati> every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, i will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought <i>himi> that he would depart out of their coasts.
And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind <i>himi>, and touched the hem of his garment:

Think not that i am come to send peace on earth: i came not to send peace, but a sword.
The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon <i>isi> here.
Then he saith, i will return into my house from whence i came out; and when he is come, he findeth <i>iti> empty, swept, and garnished.

Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this <i>mani> all these things? read more And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. show less
And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, <i>thoui> Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
And great multitudes came unto him, having with them <i>those that werei> lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:
When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that i the Son of man am?
And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a <i>certaini> man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute <i>moneyi> came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?

The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made <i>themi> at the beginning made them male and female, read more And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. The young man saith unto him, All these things have i kept from my youth up: what lack i yet? Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go <i>andi> sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come <i>andi> follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily i say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again i say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. When his disciples heard <i>iti>, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? But Jesus beheld <i>themi>, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? And Jesus said unto them, Verily i say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. But many <i>that arei> first shall be last; and the last <i>shall bei> first. show less

But what think ye? A <i>certaini> man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what <i>shall bei> the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, i have gained beside them five talents more.
He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, i have gained two other talents beside them.
Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, i knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, i will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.

And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time <i>isi> far passed:
For a <i>certaini> woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:
And if i send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
And when he came to <i>hisi> disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.
When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, <i>Thoui> dumb and deaf spirit, i charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
And <i>the spiriti> cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.

And they beckoned unto <i>theiri> partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.
And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on <i>hisi> face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing <i>themi> in <i>theiri> hands.
And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare <i>himi> stood still. And he said, Young man, i say unto thee, Arise.
Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time i came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve <i>werei> with him,
Then came to him <i>hisi> mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.
But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled <i>with wateri>, and were in jeopardy.
And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people <i>gladlyi> received him: for they were all waiting for him.
came behind <i>himi>, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain <i>mani> said unto him, Lord, i will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked <i>on himi>, and passed by on the other side.
But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion <i>on himi>, And went to <i>himi>, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, i will return unto my house whence i came out.

The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all <i>meni> through him might believe.
And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, <i>eveni> the Son of man which is in heaven.
And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all <i>meni> come to him.
The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, i am the bread which came down from heaven.
And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, i came down from heaven?
i am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that i will give is my flesh, which i will give for the life of the world.
Jesus answered and said unto them, Though i bear record of myself, <i>yeti> my record is true: for i know whence i came, and whither i go; but ye cannot tell whence i come, and whither i go.
Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for i proceeded forth and came from God; neither came i of myself, but he sent me.
Now is my soul troubled; and what shall i say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came i unto this hour.
Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, <i>sayingi>, i have both glorified <i>iti>, and will glorify <i>iti> again.
And if any man hear my words, and believe not, i judge him not: for i came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that i came out from God.
i came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, i leave the world, and go to the Father.
Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that i am a king. To this end was i born, and for this cause came i into the world, that i should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave <i>himi> leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound <i>weighti>.

And when he had said this, he breathed on <i>themi>, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: read more Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; <i>andi> whose soever <i>sinsi> ye retain, they are retained. But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. show less

i was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance i saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
And when he had considered <i>the thingi>, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.
And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king's <i>countryi>.
And there came thither <i>certaini> Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew <i>himi> out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next <i>dayi> to Neapolis;
And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, i command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, <i>andi> mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that i came into Asia, after what manner i have been with you at all seasons,
And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the <i>dayi> following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara:
And when we had finished <i>ouri> course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.
And as we tarried <i>therei> many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.
Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded <i>himi> to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.
And it came to pass, that, as i made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.
And when i could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, i came into Damascus.
came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour i looked up upon him.
And it came to pass, that, when i was come again to Jerusalem, even while i prayed in the temple, i was in a trance;
This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came i with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.
But the chief captain Lysias came <i>upon usi>, and with great violence took <i>himi> away out of our hands,
And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, <i>a cityi> of Lycia.
And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city <i>ofi> Lasea.
And the rest, some on boards, and some on <i>broken piecesi> of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.
And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid <i>themi> on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men <i>andi> brethren, though i have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was i delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into <i>hisi> lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and <i>out ofi> the prophets, from morning till evening.
Therefore as by the offence of one <i>judgment camei> upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one <i>the free gift camei> upon all men unto justification of life.
For i was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and i died.
Whose <i>arei> the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ <i>camei>, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
And i, brethren, when i came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
For since by man <i>camei> death, by man <i>camei> also the resurrection of the dead.
Moreover i call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you i came not as yet unto Corinth.
And i wrote this same unto you, lest, when i came, i should have sorrow from them of whom i ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is <i>the joyi> of you all.
Furthermore, when i came to Troas to <i>preachi> Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,
And when i was present with you, and wanted, i was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all <i>thingsi> i have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and <i>soi> will i keep <i>myselfi>.
But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also <i>to seei> you:
This <i>isi> a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom i am chief.
Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions i endured: but out of <i>themi> all the Lord delivered me.
And truly, if they had been mindful of that <i>countryi> from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom i am well pleased.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake <i>as they werei> moved by the Holy Ghost.
This is he that came by water and blood, <i>eveni> Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
For i rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
And i said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer <i>iti> with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
And the smoke of the incense, <i>which camei> with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.
And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand <i>andi> six hundred furlongs.
