Anger

Until thy brother's Anger turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?

And Jacob's Anger was kindled against Rachel: and he said, Am I in God's stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?

Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not thine Anger burn against thy servant: for thou art even as Pharaoh.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce Anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.

And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers' stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce Anger of the LORD toward Israel.

When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to Anger:

(For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the Anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the Anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to Anger, and plenteous in mercy.

He will not always chide: neither will he keep his Anger for ever.

The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to Anger, and of great mercy.

A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up Anger.

A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to Anger appeaseth strife.

He that is slow to Anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

The discretion of a man deferreth his Anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to Anger sinneth against his own soul. It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto Anger, they are gone away backward.

Therefore is the Anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his Anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce Anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his Anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his Anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.

For my name's sake will I defer mine Anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.

For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce Anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.

I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce Anger.

The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to Anger.

Do they provoke me to Anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine Anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not the LORD in Zion? is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to Anger with their graven images, and with strange vanities?

O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine Anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.

And I will make thee to pass with thine enemies into a land which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine Anger, which shall burn upon you.

And thou, even thyself, shalt discontinue from thine heritage that I gave thee; and I will cause thee to serve thine enemies in the land which thou knowest not: for ye have kindled a fire in mine Anger, which shall burn for ever.

Yet, LORD, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me: forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine Anger.

And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in Anger, and in fury, and in great wrath.

The Anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.

And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to Anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.

Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the LORD; that ye might provoke me to Anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.

And the peaceable habitations are cut down because of the fierce Anger of the LORD.

He hath forsaken his covert, as the lion: for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce Anger.

The fierce Anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it.

And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to Anger.

For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to Anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.

For this city hath been to me as a provocation of mine Anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,

Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to Anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine Anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:

They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine Anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city.

It may be they will present their supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the Anger and the fury that the LORD hath pronounced against this people.

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As mine Anger and my fury hath been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall my fury be poured forth upon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt: and ye shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and ye shall see this place no more.

Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to Anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.

Wherefore my fury and mine Anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as at this day.

For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce Anger, saith the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them:

My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce Anger of the LORD.

For through the Anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, till he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce Anger.

How hath the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his Anger, and cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel, and remembered not his footstool in the day of his Anger!

He hath cut off in his fierce Anger all the horn of Israel: he hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy, and he burned against Jacob like a flaming fire, which devoureth round about.

And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and hath despised in the indignation of his Anger the king and the priest.

The young and the old lie on the ground in the streets: my virgins and my young men are fallen by the sword; thou hast slain them in the day of thine Anger; thou hast killed, and not pitied.

Thou hast called as in a solemn day my terrors round about, so that in the day of the LORD'S Anger none escaped nor remained: those that I have swaddled and brought up hath mine enemy consumed.

Thou hast covered with Anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.

Persecute and destroy them in Anger from under the heavens of the LORD.

The LORD hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce Anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, and it hath devoured the foundations thereof.

The Anger of the LORD hath divided them; he will no more regard them: they respected not the persons of the priests, they favoured not the elders.

Thus shall mine Anger be accomplished, and I will cause my fury to rest upon them, and I will be comforted: and they shall know that I the LORD have spoken it in my zeal, when I have accomplished my fury in them.

So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment unto the nations that are round about thee, when I shall execute judgments in thee in Anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I the LORD have spoken it.

Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send mine Anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense upon thee all thine abominations.

Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine Anger upon thee: and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense thee for all thine abominations.

Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to Anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine Anger, and great hailstones in my fury to consume it.

Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbours, great of flesh; and hast increased thy whoredoms, to provoke me to Anger.

But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my Anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my Anger against them in the wilderness. Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.

As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in mine Anger and in my fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you.

And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in Edom according to mine Anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord GOD.

Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to thine Anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.

In their setting of their threshold by my thresholds, and their post by my posts, and the wall between me and them, they have even defiled my holy name by their abominations that they have committed: wherefore I have consumed them in mine Anger.

O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine Anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.

Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in Anger, nor in battle.

Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast thee off; mine Anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?

I will not execute the fierceness of mine Anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.

Ephraim provoked him to Anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him.

I gave thee a king in mine Anger, and took him away in my wrath.

I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine Anger is turned away from him.

And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to Anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his Anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:

Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce Anger, that we perish not?

And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to Anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.

And I will execute vengeance in Anger and fury upon the heathen, such as they have not heard.

Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his Anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.

The LORD is slow to Anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his Anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.

Was the LORD displeased against the rivers? was thine Anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of salvation?

Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in Anger.

Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce Anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD'S Anger come upon you.

Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S Anger.

Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce Anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

Mine Anger was kindled against the shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the LORD of hosts hath visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle.

And when he had looked round about on them with Anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will Anger you.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and Anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

But now ye also put off all these; Anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

Fathers, provoke not your children to Anger, lest they be discouraged.
