And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his Heart was only evil continually.

And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his Heart.

And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his Heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's Heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt. And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh's Heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the LORD had said. And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his Heart to this also. And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river. And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do. Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy? And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David: Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day. Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my Heart.

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine Heart.

By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil. When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. A man's Heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps. A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment. A just weight and balance are the LORD'S: all the weights of the bag are his work. It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness. Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right. The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it. In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain. How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he. The wise in Heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning. Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly. The Heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips. Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him. An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire. A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends. A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good. He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass. The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness. He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city. There are many devices in a man's Heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

Who can say, I have made my Heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

The king's Heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

An high look, and a proud Heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine Heart be glad when he stumbleth: Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the Heart of kings is unsearchable.

As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy Heart.

Burning lips and a wicked Heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.

I applied mine Heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness:

And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose Heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her.

Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's Heart discerneth both time and judgment.

All this have I seen, and applied my Heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time wherein one man ruleth over another to his own hurt.

Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the Heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

When I applied mine Heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also there is that neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes:) Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labour to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea further; though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.

For all this I considered in my Heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them.

This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the Heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their Heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry Heart; for God now accepteth thy works.

A wise man's Heart is at his right hand; but a fool's Heart at his left. Yea also, when he that is a fool walketh by the way, his wisdom faileth him, and he saith to every one that he is a fool.

Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy Heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine Heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

Therefore remove sorrow from thy Heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

And I will give them one Heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:

Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole Heart and with my whole soul.

We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his Heart.

Therefore will I howl for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab; mine Heart shall mourn for the men of Kirheres.

Therefore mine Heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine Heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kirheres: because the riches that he hath gotten are perished.

Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men's hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the Heart of a woman in her pangs.

And lest your Heart faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.
