After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.
Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
And when he had gathered all the Chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and Chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the Chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,
And when the Chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,

And when the Chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
Then assembled together the Chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,
And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the Chief priests and elders of the people.
Now the Chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;
When the morning was come, all the Chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the Chief priests and elders,
And the Chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
But the Chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.
Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the Chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the Chief priests all the things that were done.
And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the Chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men. And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. read more For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. show less
Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the Chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:
And the scribes and Chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.
And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the Chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,
After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the Chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.
And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the Chief priests, to betray him unto them.
And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the Chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the Chief priests and the elders and the scribes.
And the Chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.
And straightway in the morning the Chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.
But the Chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.
Likewise also the Chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.
Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and Chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.
And he taught daily in the temple. But the Chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,
And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the Chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,
And the Chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.

And he went his way, and communed with the Chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.
Then Jesus said unto the Chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?
And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the Chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,
And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the Chief priests prevailed.
And how the Chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.
The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the Chief priests sent officers to take him.
Then came the officers to the Chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?
Then gathered the Chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
Now both the Chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.
Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the Chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the Chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?
When the Chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.
But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The Chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
Then said the Chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.
And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the Chief priests and elders had said unto them.
But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the Chief priests?
On the morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the Chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.
And they came to the Chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul. Now therefore ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to morrow, as though ye would inquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him.
About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the Chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him.
Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the Chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.
Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the Chief priests, At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me. And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. read more But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me. Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles. show less
