Daniel 10:16-17

Daniel 10:16-17

[16] And, behold, one like the similitude  of the sons  of men  touched  my lips:  then I opened  my mouth,  and spake,  and said  unto him that stood  before me, O my lord,  by the vision  my sorrows  are turned  upon me, and I have retained  no strength.  [17] For how  can  the servant  of this my lord  talk  with this my lord?  for as for me, straightway  there remained  no strength  in me, neither is there breath  left  in me.

What does Daniel 10:16-17 Mean?

Contextual Meaning

The one who resembled a human being was probably an angel who touched his lips and thereby enabled him to speak (cf. Daniel 7:16; Daniel 8:15-19; Daniel 9:21-22; Isaiah 6:7; Jeremiah 1:9). The prophet proceeded to explain to the angel that the vision had caused him anxiety and had robbed him of his strength (cf. Isaiah 6:5). He said he felt so inferior to the angel that he considered himself unworthy to talk to him. [1] Furthermore, he felt without sufficient strength and breath to do so.
