Isaiah 19:16-17

Isaiah 19:16-17

[16] In that day  shall Egypt  be like unto women:  and it shall be afraid  and fear  because  of the shaking  of the hand  of the LORD  of hosts,  which he shaketh  [17] And the land  of Judah  shall be a terror  unto Egypt,  every one that maketh mention  thereof shall be afraid  in himself, because  of the counsel  of the LORD  of hosts,  which he hath determined  against it.

What does Isaiah 19:16-17 Mean?

Contextual Meaning

In a future day, Yahweh of armies would exalt Judah over Egypt so that the Egyptians would fear Israel and the Lord. This had happened at the Exodus ( Exodus 10:7; Exodus 12:33; Deuteronomy 2:25), and it would happen again by the manifestation of God"s power. This has not yet happened, so the fulfillment must be eschatological.
