Ephesians 5:1-6

Ephesians 5:1-6

[1] Be  therefore  followers  of God,  as  dear  children;  [2] And  walk  in  love,  as  Christ  also  hath loved  and  hath given  himself  for  an offering  and  a sacrifice  to God  for  a sweetsmelling  savour.  [3] But  fornication,  and  all  uncleanness,  or  covetousness,  not be once  named  among  as  becometh  saints;  [4] Neither  filthiness,  nor  foolish talking,  nor  jesting,  not  convenient:  but  rather  giving of thanks.  [5] For  that  no  whoremonger,  nor  unclean person,  nor  covetous man,  who  an idolater,  hath  any inheritance  in  the kingdom  of Christ  and  of God.  [6] no man  deceive  with vain  words:  for  because  cometh  the wrath  of God  upon  the children  of disobedience.

What does Ephesians 5:1-6 Mean?

Contextual Meaning

In addition to calling his readers to walk in unity ( Ephesians 4:1) and holiness ( Ephesians 4:17), Paul urged them to walk in love ( Ephesians 5:2). He first advocated positive love ( Ephesians 5:1-2) and then negatively warned to abstain from evil ( Ephesians 5:3-6).
