2 Kings 14:15-16

[15] Now the rest  of the acts  of Jehoash  which he did,  and his might,  and how he fought  with Amaziah  king  of Judah,  are they not written  in the book  of the chronicles  of the kings  of Israel?  [16] And Jehoash  slept  with his fathers,  and was buried  in Samaria  with the kings  of Israel;  and Jeroboam  his son  reigned  in his stead.

What does 2 Kings 14:15-16 Mean?

Contextual Meaning

The writer seems to have included this second mention of Jehoash of Israel"s death here (cf. 2 Kings 13:12-13) because of the unusual situation that existed after the Israelites took Amaziah prisoner. When Jehoash died in782 B.C, they released Amaziah who returned to Judah.
