For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands, Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD'S, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.

Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.

And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.

It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.

But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath: wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in an honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened. Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food this day. And the people were faint. None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death.

And Israel vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.

An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
