Psalms 82:2-5

Psalms 82:2-5

[2] How long will ye judge  unjustly,  and accept  the persons  of the wicked?  Selah.  [3] Defend  the poor  and fatherless:  do justice  to the afflicted  and needy.  [4] Deliver  the poor  and needy:  rid  them out of the hand  of the wicked.  [5] They know  not, neither will they understand;  they walk  on in darkness:  all the foundations  of the earth  are out of course.

What does Psalms 82:2-5 Mean?

Contextual Meaning

Israel"s judges were perverting justice. God called them to practice righteous justice. Chisholm believed the king is in view in Psalm 82:2-7 rather than God. [1] The essence of proper judging was making sure that the defenseless got justice. Israel"s Judges , who should have been the wisest of the people, were ignorant of the importance of fair judgment and the consequences of unfair judging. Consequently law and order, the foundations of life on earth, were unstable.
