Psalms 66:5-7

Psalms 66:5-7

[5] and see  the works  of God:  he is terrible  in his doing  toward the children  of men.  [6] He turned  the sea  into dry  land: they went  through the flood  on foot:  there did we rejoice  in him. [7] He ruleth  by his power  for ever;  his eyes  behold  the nations:  let not the rebellious  exalt  themselves. Selah.

What does Psalms 66:5-7 Mean?

Contextual Meaning

God"s great acts in nature and history demonstrate His sovereign authority over all the earth. The Red Sea and Jordan River crossings demonstrated this authority to all the nations (cf. Joshua 2:9-11). Nations should therefore pause before rebelling against the Lord.
