Proverbs 23:4-5

Proverbs 23:4-5

[4] Labour  not to be rich:  cease  from thine own wisdom.  [5] Wilt thou set  thine eyes  upon that which is not? for riches certainly  themselves wings;  they fly away  as an eagle  toward heaven.

What does Proverbs 23:4-5 Mean?

Contextual Meaning

Wealth is just as illusive as social prestige (cf. Luke 12:20; 1 Timothy 6:7-10). Therefore, people should not wear themselves out trying to get rich.
