Hebrews 2:6-8

Hebrews 2:6-8

[6] But  one  in a certain place  testified,  saying,  What  man,  that  thou art mindful  of him?  or  the son  of man,  that  thou visitest  him?  [7] him  a little  lower  than  the angels;  thou crownedst  him  with glory  and  honour,  and  didst set  him  over  the works  hands:  [8] all things  in subjection  under  his  feet.  For  in  all  in subjection under  him,  he left  nothing that is not  put under  him.  But  now  we see  not yet  all things  put under  him.

What does Hebrews 2:6-8 Mean?

Contextual Meaning

The writer interpreted this passage ( Psalm 8:4-6) as Messianic. [1] There is some evidence that most of the Jews of this time did not consider Psalm 8 to be messianic. [2] "Son of Man" is a Messianic title ( Daniel 7:13-14). As a Prayer of Manasseh , Jesus was temporarily lower than the angels during His earthly ministry. His crowning took place at His ascension as did His receiving authority from the Father over all creation. The time when all things now under His authority will bow to that authority awaits Jesus" return to earth at His second advent and the judgments that will follow His coming.
