Participle (present active of ειμι eimi) in indirect discourse, after ακουσας akousas “heard of corn being in Egypt.” Σιτια Sitia is diminutive of σιτος sitos and means grain (wheat, barley, not our maize or Indian corn), old word also for provisions, victuals, here only in the N.T. [source]

But the best texts read εἰς Αἴγυπτον , into Egypt, and construe with sent forth: “he sent forth our fathers into Egypt. ” [source]
