Acts 3:12-16

Acts 3:12-16

[12] And  when Peter  it, he answered  unto  the people,  Ye men  of Israel,  why  marvel ye  at  or  why  look ye so earnestly  as though  by our own  power  or  holiness  we had made  this man  to walk?  [13] The God  of Abraham,  and  of Isaac,  and  of Jacob,  the God  fathers,  hath glorified  his  Son  Jesus;  whom  delivered up,  and  denied  him  in  the presence  of Pilate,  when he was determined  him  go.  [14] But  denied  the Holy One  and  the Just,  and  desired  a murderer  to be granted  [15] And  killed  the Prince  of life,  whom  God  hath raised  from  the dead;  whereof  witnesses.  [16] And  his  name  through  faith  in his  name  strong,  whom  ye see  and  know:  yea,  the faith  by  him  hath given  him  perfect soundness  in the presence  all.

What does Acts 3:12-16 Mean?

Contextual Meaning

"In his former address Peter had testified to the power and presence of the Spirit of God at work in a new way in the lives of men through Jesus. Now he proclaims the power and authority of the name of Jesus by which his disciples are enabled to continue his ministry on earth. In both speeches there is a call for repentance for the crime of crucifying the Messiah, but here Peter stresses the role of Jesus as the Suffering Servant of God and as the new Moses who must be obeyed."
