[7] And  when he  said,  there arose  a dissension  between the Pharisees  and  the Sadducees:  and  the multitude  was divided.  [8] For  the Sadducees  say  no  resurrection,  angel,  nor  spirit:  but  the Pharisees  confess  both.

Paul"s belief in the resurrection divided the Sanhedrin. The Sadducees denied the resurrection as well as the existence of (good) angels and (evil) spirits, but the Pharisees believed in these things. [1]
