For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: |

So every man of Israel went up from after david, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri: but the men of Judah clave unto their king, from Jordan even to Jerusalem.
Then the princes of the Philistines went forth: and it came to pass, after they went forth, that david behaved himself more wisely than all the servants of Saul; so that his name was much set by.

david also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, david stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed himself.
And david said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and david also girded on his sword: and there went up after david about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.
And Abigail hasted, and arose, and rode upon an ass, with five damsels of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of david, and became his wife.
And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the way. But david abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.
And david inquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when david was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and david had abode two days in Ziklag;
And it came to pass after this, that david inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said unto him, Go up. And david said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.
And when Joab was come out from david, he sent messengers after Abner, which brought him again from the well of Sirah: but david knew it not.
And david took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to david.
And after this it came to pass, that david smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and david took Methegammah out of the hand of the Philistines.
And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that david sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But david tarried still at Jerusalem.
And david sent and inquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?
And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of david had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of david loved her.
And there came a messenger to david, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.
Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after david this night:
And it came to pass, after they were departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king david, and said unto david, Arise, and pass quickly over the water: for thus hath Ahithophel counselled against you.
So every man of Israel went up from after david, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri: but the men of Judah clave unto their king, from Jordan even to Jerusalem.
And david said to Abishai, Now shall Sheba the son of Bichri do us more harm than did Absalom: take thou thy lord's servants, and pursue after him, lest he get him fenced cities, and escape us.
And one of Joab's men stood by him, and said, He that favoureth Joab, and he that is for david, let him go after Joab.
Then there was a famine in the days of david three years, year after year; and david inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.
And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with david, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:
And david's heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And david said unto the LORD, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O LORD, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
Go and get thee in unto king david, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then doth Adonijah reign?
For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of david his father.
And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did david his father.
For it came to pass, when david was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;
Nevertheless for david's sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:
And these are they whom david set over the service of song in the house of the LORD, after that the ark had rest.
Therefore david inquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
Now after this it came to pass, that david smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.
And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out to battle, Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But david tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it.
And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith david his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred.
Now after this he built a wall without the city of david, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entering in at the fish gate, and compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great height, and put captains of war in all the fenced cities of Judah.
For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of david his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.
And prepare yourselves by the houses of your fathers, after your courses, according to the writing of david king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son.
And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the LORD, after the ordinance of david king of Israel.
after him repaired Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Bethzur, unto the place over against the sepulchres of david, and to the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty.

after this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of david, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in david, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
