Acts 10:9-16
On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. read more And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven. show less |

Romans 14:14
I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. |
Or if a soul touch any unclean thing, whether it be a carcase of an unclean beast, or a carcase Of unclean cattle, or the carcase Of unclean creeping things, and if it be hidden from him; he also shall be unclean, and guilty.
Every thing that openeth the matrix in all flesh, which they bring unto the LORD, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be thine: nevertheless the firstborn of man shalt thou surely redeem, and the firstling Of unclean beasts shalt thou redeem.
Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man Of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people Of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
Or if a soul touch any unclean thing, whether it be a carcase Of an unclean beast, or a carcase Of unclean cattle, or the carcase Of unclean creeping things, and if it be hidden from him; he also shall be unclean, and guilty.
Moreover the soul that shall touch any unclean thing, as the uncleanness Of man, or any unclean beast, or any abominable unclean thing, and eat Of the flesh Of the sacrifice Of peace offerings, which pertain unto the LORD, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.
Nevertheless these shall ye not eat Of them that chew the cud, or Of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.
And for these ye shall be unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase Of them shall be unclean until the even.
And whosoever beareth ought Of the carcase Of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.
The carcases Of every beast which divideth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean.
And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner Of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even.
And he that beareth the carcase Of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean unto you.
And upon whatsoever any Of them, when they are dead, doth fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel Of wood, or raiment, or skin, or sack, whatsoever vessel it be, wherein any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; so it shall be cleansed.
And every earthen vessel, whereinto any Of them falleth, whatsoever is in it shall be unclean; and ye shall break it.
Of all meat which may be eaten, that on which such water cometh shall be unclean: and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.
And every thing whereupon any part Of their carcase falleth shall be unclean; whether it be oven, or ranges for pots, they shall be broken down: for they are unclean, and shall be unclean unto you.
Nevertheless a fountain or pit, wherein there is plenty Of water, shall be clean: but that which toucheth their carcase shall be unclean.
But if any water be put upon the seed, and any part Of their carcase fall thereon, it shall be unclean unto you.
And if any beast, Of which ye may eat, die; he that toucheth the carcase thereof shall be unclean until the even.
And he that eateth Of the carcase Of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: he also that beareth the carcase Of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.
Speak unto the children Of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days Of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.
But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood Of her purifying threescore and six days.
And the priest shall look on the plague in the skin Of the flesh: and when the hair in the plague is turned white, and the plague in sight be deeper than the skin Of his flesh, it is a plague Of leprosy: and the priest shall look on him, and pronounce him unclean.
It is an old leprosy in the skin Of his flesh, and the priest shall pronounce him unclean, and shall not shut him up: for he is unclean.
And if, when the priest seeth it, behold, it be in sight lower than the skin, and the hair thereof be turned white; the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is a plague Of leprosy broken out Of the boil.
Then the priest shall look upon it: and, behold, if the hair in the bright spot be turned white, and it be in sight deeper than the skin; it is a leprosy broken out Of the burning: wherefore the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is the plague Of leprosy.
And the priest shall look upon him the seventh day: and if it be spread much abroad in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is the plague Of leprosy.
And he shall look on the plague on the seventh day: if the plague be spread in the garment, either in the warp, or in the woof, or in a skin, or in any work that is made Of skin; the plague is a fretting leprosy; it is unclean.
This is the law Of the plague Of leprosy in a garment Of woollen or linen, either in the warp, or woof, or any thing Of skins, to pronounce it clean, or to pronounce it unclean.
And he shall break down the house, the stones Of it, and the timber thereof, and all the morter Of the house; and he shall carry them forth out Of the city into an unclean place.
Speak unto the children Of Israel, and say unto them, When any man hath a running issue out Of his flesh, because Of his issue he is unclean.
And he that toucheth the flesh Of him that hath the issue shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
And whosoever toucheth any thing that was under him shall be unclean until the even: and he that beareth any Of those things shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
And if any man's seed Of copulation go out from him, then he shall wash all his flesh in water, and be unclean until the even.
And every garment, and every skin, whereon is the seed Of copulation, shall be washed with water, and be unclean until the even.
The woman also with whom man shall lie with seed Of copulation, they shall both bathe themselves in water, and be unclean until the even.
And if a woman have an issue Of her blood many days out Of the time Of her separation, or if it run beyond the time Of her separation; all the days Of the issue Of her uncleanness shall be as the days Of her separation: she shall be unclean.
Every bed whereon she lieth all the days Of her issue shall be unto her as the bed Of her separation: and whatsoever she sitteth upon shall be unclean, as the uncleanness Of her separation.
And Of her that is sick Of her flowers, and Of him that hath an issue, Of the man, and Of the woman, and Of him that lieth with her that is unclean.
And every soul that eateth that which died Of itself, or that which was torn with beasts, whether it be one Of your own country, or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even: then shall he be clean.
Ye shall therefore put difference between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean: and ye shall not make your souls abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any manner Of living thing that creepeth on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean.
What man soever Of the seed Of Aaron is a leper, or hath a running issue; he shall not eat Of the holy things, until he be clean. And whoso toucheth any thing that is unclean by the dead, or a man whose seed goeth from him;
Or whosoever toucheth any creeping thing, whereby he may be made unclean, or a man Of whom he may take uncleanness, whatsoever uncleanness he hath;
The soul which hath touched any such shall be unclean until even, and shall not eat Of the holy things, unless he wash his flesh with water.
And if it be any unclean beast, Of which they do not offer a sacrifice unto the LORD, then he shall present the beast before the priest:
And if it be Of an unclean beast, then he shall redeem it according to thine estimation, and shall add a fifth part Of it thereto: or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to thy estimation.
He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die: because the consecration Of his God is upon his head.
Speak unto the children Of Israel, saying, If any man Of you or Of your posterity shall be unclean by reason Of a dead body, or be in a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the passover unto the LORD.
Every thing that openeth the matrix in all flesh, which they bring unto the LORD, whether it be Of men or beasts, shall be thine: nevertheless the firstborn Of man shalt thou surely redeem, and the firstling Of unclean beasts shalt thou redeem.
And he that gathereth the ashes Of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: and it shall be unto the children Of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among them, for a statute for ever.
Whosoever toucheth the dead body Of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle Of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water Of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.
And whosoever toucheth one that is slain with a sword in the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone Of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.
And for an unclean person they shall take Of the ashes Of the burnt heifer Of purification for sin, and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel:
But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he hath defiled the sanctuary Of the LORD: the water Of separation hath not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.
And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them, that he that sprinkleth the water Of separation shall wash his clothes; and he that toucheth the water Of separation shall be unclean until even.
Notwithstanding thou mayest kill and eat flesh in all thy gates, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, according to the blessing Of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as Of the roebuck, and as Of the hart.
Even as the roebuck and the hart is eaten, so thou shalt eat them: the unclean and the clean shall eat Of them alike.
Nevertheless these ye shall not eat Of them that chew the cud, or Of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you.
And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat Of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.
For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst Of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.
I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I taken away ought thereof for any unclean use, nor given ought thereof for the dead: but I have hearkened to the voice Of the LORD my God, and have done according to all that thou hast commanded me.
Notwithstanding, if the land Of your possession be unclean, then pass ye over unto the land Of the possession Of the LORD, wherein the LORD'S tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among us: but rebel not against the LORD, nor rebel against us, in building you an altar beside the altar Of the LORD our God.
But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day Of his death.
She may not eat Of any thing that cometh Of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe.
And he set the porters at the gates Of the house Of the LORD, that none which was unclean in any thing should enter in.
Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness Of the people Of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness.
Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man Of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst Of a people Of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD Of hosts.
And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way Of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.
Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out Of the midst Of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels Of the LORD.
Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any Of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.
Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work Of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD Of hosts, that I will cut off the names Of the idols out Of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out Of the land.
And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner Of sickness and all manner Of disease. Now the names Of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son Of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son Of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. read more These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way Of the Gentiles, and into any city Of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep Of the house Of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom Of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy Of his meat. And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. And when ye come into an house, salute it. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out Of that house or city, shake off the dust Of your feet. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land Of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day Of judgment, than for that city. Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst Of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware Of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit Of your Father which speaketh in you. And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated Of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities Of Israel, till the Son Of man be come. The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master Of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them Of his household? Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one Of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs Of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are Of more value than many sparrows. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they Of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy Of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy Of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy Of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet in the name Of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name Of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one Of these little ones a cup Of cold water only in the name Of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. show less
