And Samuel died; and all the Israelites were gathered together, and lamented him, and buried him in his House at Ramah. And David arose, and went down To the wilderness of Paran. And there was a man in Maon, whose possessions were in Carmel; and the man was very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel. Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the House of Caleb. And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal did shear his sheep. read more And David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up To Carmel, and go To Nabal, and greet him in my name: And thus shall ye say To him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both To thee, and peace be To thine House, and peace be unto all that thou hast. And now I have heard that thou hast shearers: now thy shepherds which were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there ought missing unto them, all the while they were in Carmel. Ask thy young men, and they will shew thee. Wherefore let the young men find favour in thine eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh To thine hand unto thy servants, and To thy son David. And when David's young men came, they spake To Nabal according To all those words in the name of David, and ceased. And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master. Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be? So David's young men turned their way, and went again, and came and told him all those sayings. And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff. But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness To salute our master; and he railed on them. But the men were very good unto us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as long as we were conversant with them, when we were in the fields: They were a wall unto us both by night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep. Now therefore know and consider what thou wilt do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he is such a son of Belial, that a man cannot speak To him. Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched corn, and an hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on asses. And she said unto her servants, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she told not her husband Nabal. And it was so, as she rode on the ass, that she came down by the covert of the hill, and, behold, David and his men came down against her; and she met them. Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this fellow hath in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that pertained unto him: and he hath requited me evil for good. So and more also do God unto the enemies of David, if I leave of all that pertain To him by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall. And when Abigail saw David, she hasted, and lighted off the ass, and fell before David on her face, and bowed herself To the ground, And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be: and let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thine audience, and hear the words of thine handmaid. Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send. Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, seeing the LORD hath withholden thee from coming To shed blood, and from avenging thyself with thine own hand, now let thine enemies, and they that seek evil To my lord, be as Nabal. And now this blessing which thine handmaid hath brought unto my lord, let it even be given unto the young men that follow my lord. I pray thee, forgive the trespass of thine handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure House; because my lord fighteth the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been found in thee all thy days. Yet a man is risen To pursue thee, and To seek thy soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God; and the souls of thine enemies, them shall he sling out, as out of the middle of a sling. And it shall come To pass, when the LORD shall have done To my lord according To all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel; That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offence of heart unto my lord, either that thou hast shed blood causeless, or that my lord hath avenged himself: but when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thine handmaid. And David said To Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day To meet me: And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming To shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand. For in very deed, as the LORD God of Israel liveth, which hath kept me back from hurting thee, except thou hadst hasted and come To meet me, surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall. And it came To pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died. And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the LORD, that hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept his servant from evil: for the LORD hath returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed with Abigail, To take her To him To wife. And when the servants of David were come To Abigail To Carmel, they spake unto her, saying, David sent us unto thee, To take thee To him To wife. And she arose, and bowed herself on her face To the earth, and said, Behold, let thine handmaid be a servant To wash the feet of the servants of my lord. And Abigail hasted, and arose, and rode upon an ass, with five damsels of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife. David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and they were also both of them his wives. But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David's wife, To Phalti the son of Laish, which was of Gallim. show less

And as since the time that I commanded judges To be over my people Israel, and have caused thee To rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an House.
And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's House for a great while To come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?

And their brethren, according To their generations, nine hundred and fifty and six. All these men were chief of the fathers in the House of their fathers.
And they lodged round about the House of God, because the charge was upon them, and the opening thereof every morning pertained To them.
So David brought not the ark home To himself To the city of David, but carried it aside into the House of Obededom the Gittite.
Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers To David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, To build him an House.
So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went To bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the House of Obededom with joy.
And all the people departed every man To his House: and David returned To bless his House.
Now it came To pass, as David sat in his House, that David said To Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an House of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains.
Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not build me an House To dwell in:
For I have not dwelt in an House since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent To tent, and from one tabernacle To another.
Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word To any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded To feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an House of cedars?
And since the time that I commanded judges To be over my people Israel. Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an House.
And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant's House for a great while To come, and hast regarded me according To the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.
Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God To Israel: and let the House of David thy servant be established before thee.
For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an House: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart To pray before thee.
Now therefore let it please thee To bless the House of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed for ever.
And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people To be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father's House; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
And David commanded To gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons To hew wrought stones To build the House of God.
And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the House that is To be builded for the LORD must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.
Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him To build an House for the LORD God of Israel.
And David said To Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind To build an House unto the name of the LORD my God:
But the word of the LORD came To me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an House unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
Now set your heart and your soul To seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, To bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the House that is To be built To the name of the LORD.
Of which, twenty and four thousand were To set forward the work of the House of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges:
And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according To their father's House.
Because their office was To wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the House of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the House of God;
And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar; and thus were they divided. Among the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen chief men of the House of their fathers, and eight among the sons of Ithamar according To the House of their fathers.
These were the orderings of them in their service To come into the House of the LORD, according To their manner, under Aaron their father, as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.
All these were under the hands of their father for song in the House of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the House of God, according To the king's order To Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.
Among these were the divisions of the porters, even among the chief men, having wards one against another, To minister in the House of the LORD.
And they cast lots, as well the small as the great, according To the House of their fathers, for every gate.
Out of the spoils won in battles did they dedicate To maintain the House of the LORD.
Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart To build an House of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:
Howbeit the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the House of my father To be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah To be the ruler; and of the House of Judah, the House of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me To make me king over all Israel:
And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my House and my courts: for I have chosen him To be my son, and I will be his father.
Take heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee To build an House for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.
And David said To Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the House of the LORD.
Now I have prepared with all my might for the House of my God the gold for things To be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones To be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.
Moreover, because I have set my affection To the House of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given To the House of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy House,
And they with whom precious stones were found gave them To the treasure of the House of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.
O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared To build thee an House for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own.
And Solomon determined To build an House for the name of the LORD, and an House for his kingdom.
And Solomon sent To Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars To build him an House To dwell therein, even so deal with me.
Behold, I build an House To the name of the LORD my God, To dedicate it To him, and To burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an ordinance for ever To Israel.
But who is able To build him an House, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an House, save only To burn sacrifice before him?
Even To prepare me timber in abundance: for the House which I am about To build shall be wonderful great.
Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given To David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an House for the LORD, and an House for his kingdom.
Then Solomon began To build the House of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
And the porch that was in the front of the House, the length of it was according To the breadth of the House, twenty cubits, and the height was an hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it within with pure gold.
And he made the most holy House, the length whereof was according To the breadth of the House, twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting To six hundred talents.
And the wings of the cherubims were twenty cubits long: one wing of the one cherub was five cubits, reaching To the wall of the House: and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching To the wing of the other cherub.
And one wing of the other cherub was five cubits, reaching To the wall of the House: and the other wing was five cubits also, joining To the wing of the other cherub.
And Huram made the pots, and the shovels, and the basons. And Huram finished the work that he was To make for king Solomon for the House of God;
The pots also, and the shovels, and the fleshhooks, and all their instruments, did Huram his father make To king Solomon for the House of the LORD of bright brass.
And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, To the oracle of the House, into the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims:
It came even To pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, To make one sound To be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the House was filled with a cloud, even the House of the LORD;
So that the priests could not stand To minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the House of God.
Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel To build an House in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man To be a ruler over my people Israel:
Now it was in the heart of David my father To build an House for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
That thine eyes may be open upon this House day and night, upon the place whereof thou hast said that thou wouldest put thy name there; To hearken unto the prayer which thy servant prayeth toward this place.
If a man sin against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him To make him swear, and the oath come before thine altar in this House;
And if thy people Israel be put To the worse before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee; and shall return and confess thy name, and pray and make supplication before thee in this House;
Then hear thou from the heavens, even from thy dwelling place, and do according To all that the stranger calleth To thee for; that all people of the earth may know thy name, and fear thee, as doth thy people Israel, and may know that this House which I have built is called by thy name.
If thy people go out To war against their enemies by the way that thou shalt send them, and they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, and the House which I have built for thy name;
If they return To thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, whither they have carried them captives, and pray toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, and toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the House which I have built for thy name:
And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the House, they bowed themselves with their faces To the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
Moreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the House of the LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the brasen altar which Solomon had made was not able To receive the burnt offerings, and the meat offerings, and the fat.
Thus Solomon finished the House of the LORD, and the king's House: and all that came into Solomon's heart To make in the House of the LORD, and in his own House, he prosperously effected.
And the LORD appeared To Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place To myself for an House of sacrifice.
Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this House, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it To be a proverb and a byword among all nations.
And this House, which is high, shall be an astonishment To every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this House?
And it came To pass at the end of twenty years, wherein Solomon had built the House of the LORD, and his own House,
And the king made of the algum trees terraces To the House of the LORD, and To the king's palace, and harps and psalteries for singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.
And three hundred shields made he of beaten gold: three hundred shekels of gold went To one shield. And the king put them in the House of the forest of Lebanon.
And when Rehoboam was come To Jerusalem, he gathered of the House of Judah and Benjamin an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, To fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again To Rehoboam.
Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man To his House: for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of the LORD, and returned from going against Jeroboam.
Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them To the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king's House.
Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the House of the LORD and of the king's House, and sent To Benhadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
And these are the numbers of them according To the House of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.
Then he said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return therefore every man To his House in peace.
And they came To Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the House of the LORD.
And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the House of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab To wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.
Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the House of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised To give a light To him and To his sons for ever.
But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem To go a whoring, like To the whoredoms of the House of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's House, which were better than thyself:
He also walked in the ways of the House of Ahab: for his mother was his counseller To do wickedly.
Wherefore he did evil in the sight of the LORD like the House of Ahab: for they were his counsellers after the death of his father To his destruction.
And the destruction of Ahaziah was of God by coming To Joram: for when he was come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed To cut off the House of Ahab.
And it came To pass, that, when Jehu was executing judgment upon the House of Ahab, and found the princes of Judah, and the sons of the brethren of Ahaziah, that ministered To Ahaziah, he slew them.
And he sought Ahaziah: and they caught him, (for he was hid in Samaria,) and brought him To Jehu: and when they had slain him, they buried him: Because, said they, he is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart. So the House of Ahaziah had no power To keep still the kingdom.
And the Levites shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whosoever else cometh into the House, he shall be put To death: but be ye with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out.
Moreover Jehoiada the priest delivered To the captains of hundreds spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David's, which were in the House of God.

Then all the people went To the House of Baal, and brake it down, and brake his altars and his images in pieces, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.
Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the House of the LORD by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the House of the LORD, To offer the burnt offerings of the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, as it was ordained by David.
And it came To pass after this, that Joash was minded To repair the House of the LORD.
And he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said To them, Go out unto the cities of Judah, and gather of all Israel money To repair the House of your God from year To year, and see that ye hasten the matter. Howbeit the Levites hastened it not.
And the king and Jehoiada gave it To such as did the work of the service of the House of the LORD, and hired masons and carpenters To repair the House of the LORD, and also such as wrought iron and brass To mend the House of the LORD.
And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, whereof were made vessels for the House of the LORD, even vessels To minister, and To offer withal, and spoons, and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the House of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.
And he took all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the House of God with Obededom, and the treasures of the king's House, the hostages also, and returned To Samaria.
Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand To burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the House of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.
And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the king's son, and Azrikam the governor of the House, and Elkanah that was next To the king.
And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according To the commandment of the king, by the words of the LORD, To cleanse the House of the LORD.
And the priests went into the inner part of the House of the LORD, To cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court of the House of the LORD. And the Levites took it, To carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron.
Now they began on the first day of the first month To sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they To the porch of the LORD: so they sanctified the House of the LORD in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.
Then they went in To Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the House of the LORD, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.

Then Hezekiah commanded To prepare chambers in the House of the LORD; and they prepared them,
Beside their genealogy of males, from three years old and upward, even unto every one that entereth into the House of the LORD, his daily portion for their service in their charges according To their courses;
Both To the genealogy of the priests by the House of their fathers, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their charges by their courses;
And in every work that he began in the service of the House of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, To seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.
And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face To his own land. And when he was come into the House of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.

And when they came To Hilkiah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the House of God, which the Levites that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin; and they returned To Jerusalem.
And they put it in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the House of the LORD, and they gave it To the workmen that wrought in the House of the LORD, To repair and amend the House:
And Hilkiah answered and said To Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the House of the LORD. And Hilkiah delivered the book To Shaphan.

But he sent ambassadors To him, saying, What have I To do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the House wherewith I have war: for God commanded me To make haste: forbear thee from meddling with God, who is with me, that he destroy thee not.
Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the House of the LORD To Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.
And when the year was expired, king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him To Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the House of the LORD, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.

Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me To build him an House in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.

But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon the same king Cyrus made a decree To build this House of God.

And also let the golden and silver vessels of the House of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought unto Babylon, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem, every one To his place, and place them in the House of God.

And the God that hath caused his name To dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put To their hand To alter and To destroy this House of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.
And offered at the dedication of this House of God an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve he goats, according To the number of the tribes of Israel.

Afterward I came unto the House of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the House of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come To slay thee; yea, in the night will they come To slay thee.

And To bring the firstfruits of our ground, and the firstfruits of all fruit of all trees, year by year, unto the House of the LORD:
Also the firstborn of our sons, and of our cattle, as it is written in the law, and the firstlings of our herds and of our flocks, To bring To the House of our God, unto the priests that minister in the House of our God:
And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, To the chambers of the House of our God; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage.

And let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto Shushan the palace, To the House of the women, unto the custody of Hege the king's chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for purification be given them:
So it came To pass, when the king's commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, To the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king's House, To the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.

In the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second House of the women, To the custody of Shaashgaz, the king's chamberlain, which kept the concubines: she came in unto the king no more, except the king delighted in her, and that she were called by name.
Then Mordecai commanded To answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's House, more than all the Jews.
For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise To the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's House shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come To the kingdom for such a time as this?
Now it came To pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's House, over against the king's House: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal House, over against the gate of the House.

Keep thy foot when thou goest To the House of God, and be more ready To hear, than To give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil. Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty To utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few. For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words. When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not To pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. read more Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay. Suffer not thy mouth To cause thy flesh To sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands? For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God. show less
