Lamentations 5:1-22
[1] Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach. [2] Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens. [3] We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows. [4] We have drunken our water for money; our wood is sold unto us. [5] Our necks are under persecution: we labour, and have no rest. [6] We have given the hand to the Egyptians, and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread. [7] Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities. [8] Servants have ruled over us: there is none that doth deliver us out of their hand. [9] We gat our bread with the peril of our lives because of the sword of the wilderness. [10] Our skin was black like an oven because of the terrible famine. [11] They ravished the women in Zion, and the maids in the cities of Judah. [12] Princes are hanged up by their hand: the faces of elders were not honoured. [13] They took the young men to grind, and the children fell under the wood. [14] The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their musick. [15] The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into mourning. [16] The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned! [17] For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes are dim. [18] Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it. [19] Thou, O LORD, remainest for ever; thy throne from generation to generation. [20] Wherefore dost thou forget us for ever, and forsake us so long time? [21] Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old. [22] But thou hast utterly rejected us; thou art very wroth against us. |

Psalms 13:1-6
[1] {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? [2] How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? [3] Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; [4] Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. [5] But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. [6] I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me. |

Psalms 35:1-28
[1] {A Psalm of David.} Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me. [2] Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help. [3] Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation. [4] Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt. [5] Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them. [6] Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them. [7] For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul. [8] Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall. [9] And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation. [10] All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him? [11] False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not. [12] They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul. [13] But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom. [14] I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother. [15] But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not: [16] With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth. [17] Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions. [18] I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people. [19] Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause. [20] For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land. [21] Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it. [22] This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me. [23] Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord. [24] Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me. [25] Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up. [26] Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me. [27] Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. [28] And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long. |

Psalms 57:1-11
[1] {To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David, when he fled from Saul in the cave.} Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast. [2] I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me. [3] He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth. [4] My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. [5] Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth. [6] They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah. [7] My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. [8] Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. [9] I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. [10] For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. [11] Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth. |

Psalms 71:1-24
[1] In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. [2] Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me. [3] Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. [4] Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. [5] For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth. [6] By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee. [7] I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge. [8] Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day. [9] Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth. [10] For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together, [11] Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him. [12] O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help. [13] Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt. [14] But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more. [15] My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. [16] I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only. [17] O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. [18] Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. [19] Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee! [20] Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth. [21] Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side. [22] I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel. [23] My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed. [24] My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt. |

Psalms 120:1-7
[1] {A Song of degrees.} In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me. [2] Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. [3] What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue? [4] Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper. [5] Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar! [6] My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace. [7] I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war. |

Psalms 140:1-13
[1] {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man; [2] Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war. [3] They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah. [4] Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings. [5] The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah. [6] I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD. [7] O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle. [8] Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah. [9] As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them. [10] Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again. [11] Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him. [12] I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor. [13] Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence. |
