Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
And The angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.
And The angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.
And The angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.
And The angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.
And God heard the voice of the lad; and The angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.
And The angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
The angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.
And The angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

And God's anger was kindled because he went: and The angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.
And the ass saw The angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.
But The angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.
And when the ass saw The angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall: and he smote her again.
And The angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.
And when the ass saw The angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.
Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw The angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.
And The angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me:
And Balaam said unto The angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again.
And The angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.
And it came to pass, when The angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
Curse ye Meroz, said The angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.
And The angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.
And The angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so.
Then The angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then The angel of the LORD departed out of his sight.
And The angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.
And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and The angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.
And The angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware.
And Manoah said unto The angel of the LORD, I pray thee, let us detain thee, until we shall have made ready a kid for thee.
And The angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Though thou detain me, I will not eat of thy bread: and if thou wilt offer a burnt offering, thou must offer it unto the LORD. For Manoah knew not that he was an angel of the LORD.
And Manoah said unto The angel of the LORD, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?
And The angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?
So Manoah took a kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the LORD: and The angel did wondrously; and Manoah and his wife looked on.
For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that The angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground.
But The angel of the LORD did no more appear to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an angel of the LORD.
And when The angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to The angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And The angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.
And David spake unto the LORD when he saw The angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house.
And The angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
But The angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to inquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?
And The angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.
And it came to pass that night, that The angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and The angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to The angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And The angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
And David lifted up his eyes, and saw The angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
Then The angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
And Ornan turned back, and saw The angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.
And the LORD commanded The angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof.
But David could not go before it to inquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of The angel of the LORD.
Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before The angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?
Then The angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
In all their affliction he was afflicted, and The angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.
Yea, he had power over The angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us;
Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And The angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be.
And they answered The angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.
Then The angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?
And the LORD answered The angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words.
So The angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.
And I said unto The angel that talked with me, What be these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.
And, behold, The angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,
And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before The angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And The angel of the LORD stood by.
And The angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep,
So I answered and spake to The angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?
Then The angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
Then The angel that talked with me went forth, and said unto me, Lift up now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth. And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth. And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah. And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof. read more Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven. Then said I to The angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah? And The angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.
In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as The angel of the LORD before them.
