And the Prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.

But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the Prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men which belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.

But Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he called not.

And, lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the Prophet also came in.

And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the Prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:

Now there dwelt an old Prophet in Bethel; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father.

And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told it in the city where the old Prophet dwelt.

And when the Prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake unto him.

And the Prophet took up the carcase of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back: and the old Prophet came to the city, to mourn and to bury him.

And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the Prophet the son of Amoz.

In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the Prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.

Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the Prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

And the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings, are written in the story of the Prophet Iddo.

We see not our signs: there is no more any Prophet: neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.

Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the Prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! yea, both the Prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also. Then said the Prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the Prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie. Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD. So Hananiah the Prophet died the same year in the seventh month. show less

Then the Prophet Jeremiah said unto the Prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of the LORD,

Even the Prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: the LORD do so: the LORD perform thy words which thou hast prophesied, to bring again the vessels of the LORD'S house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place.

The Prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the Prophet shall come to pass, then shall the Prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him.

Then Hananiah the Prophet took the yoke from off the Prophet Jeremiah's neck, and brake it.

And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the Prophet Jeremiah went his way.

Then the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the Prophet, after that Hananiah the Prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the Prophet Jeremiah, saying,

Then said the Prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the Prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie.

So Hananiah the Prophet died the same year in the seventh month.

Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the Prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;

The LORD hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a Prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks.

Now therefore why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, which maketh himself a Prophet to you?

And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the Prophet.

For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the Prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah's house.

Then Jeremiah the Prophet spake all these words unto Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem,

And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the Prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of the LORD in the LORD'S house.

But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the Prophet: but the LORD hid them.

And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the Prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto the LORD our God for us.

Then came the word of the LORD unto the Prophet Jeremiah, saying,

And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the Prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.

My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the Prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he is like to die for hunger in the place where he is: for there is no more bread in the city.

Then the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Take from hence thirty men with thee, and take up Jeremiah the Prophet out of the dungeon, before he die.

Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took Jeremiah the Prophet unto him into the third entry that is in the house of the LORD: and the king said unto Jeremiah, I will ask thee a thing; hide nothing from me.

And said unto Jeremiah the Prophet, Let, we beseech thee, our supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the LORD thy God, even for all this remnant; (for we are left but a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us:)

Then Jeremiah the Prophet said unto them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray unto the LORD your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatsoever thing the LORD shall answer you, I will declare it unto you; I will keep nothing back from you.

Even men, and women, and children, and the king's daughters, and every person that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the Prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah.

The word that Jeremiah the Prophet spake unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,

The word of the LORD which came to Jeremiah the Prophet against the Gentiles;

The word that the LORD spake to Jeremiah the Prophet, how Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon should come and smite the land of Egypt.

The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the Prophet against the Philistines, before that Pharaoh smote Gaza.

The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the Prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the Prophet.

The word which Jeremiah the Prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And this Seraiah was a quiet prince.

Behold, O LORD, and consider to whom thou hast done this. Shall the women eat their fruit, and children of a span long? shall the priest and the Prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?

And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a Prophet among them.

Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon rumour; then shall they seek a vision of the Prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the ancients.

Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the Prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;
