And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the HOUSE OF THE LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.
And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the HOUSE OF THE LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young.
And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the HOUSE OF THE LORD. And Samuel feared to shew Eli the vision.
Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat. Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread. And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.
And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And the great court round about was with three rows of hewed stones, and a row of cedar beams, both for the inner court of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and for the porch of the house.
And Hiram made the lavers, and the shovels, and the basons. So Hiram made an end of doing all the work that he made king Solomon for the HOUSE OF THE LORD:
And the pots, and the shovels, and the basons: and all these vessels, which Hiram made to king Solomon for the HOUSE OF THE LORD, were of bright brass.
And Solomon made all the vessels that pertained unto the HOUSE OF THE LORD: the altar of gold, and the table of gold, whereupon the shewbread was,
So was ended all the work that king Solomon made for the HOUSE OF THE LORD. And Solomon brought in the things which David his father had dedicated; even the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, did he put among the treasures of the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the HOUSE OF THE LORD,
So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered unto the LORD, two and twenty thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
The same day did the king hallow the middle of the court that was before the HOUSE OF THE LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings: because the brasen altar that was before the LORD was too little to receive the burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings.
And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and the king's house, and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to do,
And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and the king's house,
And this is the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised; for to build the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.
And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the HOUSE OF THE LORD; there was no more spirit in her.
And the king made of the almug trees pillars for the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and for the king's house, harps also and psalteries for singers: there came no such almug trees, nor were seen unto this day.
If this people go up to do sacrifice in the HOUSE OF THE LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah.
And he took away the treasures of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
And it was so, when the king went into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, that the guard bare them, and brought them back into the guard chamber.
And he brought in the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which himself had dedicated, into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, silver, and gold, and vessels.
Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants: and king Asa sent them to Benhadad, the son of Tabrimon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
And he was with her hid in the HOUSE OF THE LORD six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.
And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and shewed them the king's son.
And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the HOUSE OF THE LORD about the king.
But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king's house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.
And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, even the money of every one that passeth the account, the money that every man is set at, and all the money that cometh into any man's heart to bring into the HOUSE OF THE LORD,
But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the HOUSE OF THE LORD: and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money that was brought into the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And it was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags, and told the money that was found in the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the HOUSE OF THE LORD: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the HOUSE OF THE LORD,
And to masons, and hewers of stone, and to buy timber and hewed stone to repair the breaches of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.
Howbeit there were not made for the HOUSE OF THE LORD bowls of silver, snuffers, basons, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the HOUSE OF THE LORD:
The trespass money and sin money was not brought into the HOUSE OF THE LORD: it was the priests'.
And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and in the king's house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.
And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
Howbeit the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He built the higher gate of the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.
And he brought also the brasen altar, which was before the LORD, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and put it on the north side of the altar.
And the covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry without, turned he from the HOUSE OF THE LORD for the king of Assyria.
And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.
And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and spread it before the LORD.
Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the HOUSE OF THE LORD the third day?
And he built altars in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, of which the LORD said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.
And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the HOUSE OF THE LORD, saying,
Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:
And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the HOUSE OF THE LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, to repair the breaches of the house,
And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the HOUSE OF THE LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And the king went up into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And he brought out the grove from the HOUSE OF THE LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.
And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the HOUSE OF THE LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.
And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, by the chamber of Nathanmelech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.
And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.
Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And he carried out thence all the treasures of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.
And he burnt the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man's house burnt he with fire.
And the pillars of brass that were in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and the bases, and the brasen sea that was in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, did the Chaldees break in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon.
The two pillars, one sea, and the bases which Solomon had made for the HOUSE OF THE LORD; the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
And these are they whom David set over the service of song in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, after that the ark had rest.
And they ministered before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Solomon had built the HOUSE OF THE LORD in Jerusalem: and then they waited on their office according to their order.
So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, namely, the house of the tabernacle, by wards.
Then David said, This is the HOUSE OF THE LORD God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel.
Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the HOUSE OF THE LORD thy God, as he hath said of thee.
Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the HOUSE OF THE LORD an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add thereto.
Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the HOUSE OF THE LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges:
These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward.
Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
These were the orderings of them in their service to come into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, according to their manner, under Aaron their father, as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.
All these were under the hands of their father for song in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king's order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.
Among these were the divisions of the porters, even among the chief men, having wards one against another, to minister in the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
The sons of Jehieli; Zetham, and Joel his brother, which were over the treasures of the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
Out of the spoils won in battles did they dedicate to maintain the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things:
Also for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and for all the vessels of service in the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.
Then Solomon began to build the HOUSE OF THE LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
The pots also, and the shovels, and the fleshhooks, and all their instruments, did Huram his father make to king Solomon for the HOUSE OF THE LORD of bright brass.
Thus all the work that Solomon made for the HOUSE OF THE LORD was finished: and Solomon brought in all the things that David his father had dedicated; and the silver, and the gold, and all the instruments, put he among the treasures of the house of God.
It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the HOUSE OF THE LORD;
And the priests could not enter into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD'S house.
Moreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the HOUSE OF THE LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the brasen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offerings, and the meat offerings, and the fat.
Thus Solomon finished the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and the king's house: and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.
And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, wherein Solomon had built the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and his own house,
Now all the work of Solomon was prepared unto the day of the foundation of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and until it was finished. So the HOUSE OF THE LORD was perfected.
And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel; his cupbearers also, and their apparel; and his ascent by which he went up into the HOUSE OF THE LORD; there was no more spirit in her.
And the king made of the algum trees terraces to the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and to the king's palace, and harps and psalteries for singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.
So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
And when the king entered into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.
Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the HOUSE OF THE LORD and of the king's house, and sent to Benhadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, before the new court,
And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And a third part shall be at the king's house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation: and all the people shall be in the courts of the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
But let none come into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, save the priests, and they that minister of the Levites; they shall go in, for they are holy: but all the people shall keep the watch of the LORD.
Now when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the HOUSE OF THE LORD:
Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds that were set over the host, and said unto them, Have her forth of the ranges: and whoso followeth her, let him be slain with the sword. For the priest said, Slay her not in the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the HOUSE OF THE LORD by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, to offer the burnt offerings of the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, as it was ordained by David.
And he set the porters at the gates of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, that none which was unclean in any thing should enter in.
And it came to pass after this, that Joash was minded to repair the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up the house of God; and also all the dedicated things of the HOUSE OF THE LORD did they bestow upon Baalim.
And at the king's commandment they made a chest, and set it without at the gate of the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And the king and Jehoiada gave it to such as did the work of the service of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and hired masons and carpenters to repair the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and also such as wrought iron and brass to mend the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, whereof were made vessels for the HOUSE OF THE LORD, even vessels to minister, and to offer withal, and spoons, and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the HOUSE OF THE LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.
And they left the HOUSE OF THE LORD God of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass.
And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, from beside the incense altar.
And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the HOUSE OF THE LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.
He built the high gate of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and on the wall of Ophel he built much.
For Ahaz took away a portion out of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and out of the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave it unto the king of Assyria: but he helped him not.
And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.
He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and repaired them.
And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the HOUSE OF THE LORD God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.
And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according to the commandment of the king, by the words of the LORD, to cleanse the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And the priests went into the inner part of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court of the HOUSE OF THE LORD. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron.
Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the LORD: so they sanctified the HOUSE OF THE LORD in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.
Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.
Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And he set the Levites in the HOUSE OF THE LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.
Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the HOUSE OF THE LORD. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings.
And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the HOUSE OF THE LORD was set in order.
And Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the HOUSE OF THE LORD at Jerusalem, to keep the passover unto the LORD God of Israel.
Then they killed the passover on the fourteenth day of the second month: and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought in the burnt offerings into the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and said, Since the people began to bring the offerings into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: for the LORD hath blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.
Then Hezekiah commanded to prepare chambers in the HOUSE OF THE LORD; and they prepared them,
Beside their genealogy of males, from three years old and upward, even unto every one that entereth into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, his daily portion for their service in their charges according to their courses;
Also he built altars in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.
And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.
Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land, and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the HOUSE OF THE LORD his God.
And they put it in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and they gave it to the workmen that wrought in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, to repair and amend the house:
And when they brought out the money that was brought into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, Hilkiah the priest found a book of the law of the LORD given by Moses.
And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the HOUSE OF THE LORD. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.
And they have gathered together the money that was found in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and to the hand of the workmen.
And the king went up into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And he set the priests in their charges, and encouraged them to the service of the HOUSE OF THE LORD,
Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the HOUSE OF THE LORD to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.
And when the year was expired, king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.
Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the HOUSE OF THE LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.
And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.
Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the HOUSE OF THE LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.
And some of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the HOUSE OF THE LORD which is at Jerusalem, offered freely for the house of God to set it up in his place:
Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the HOUSE OF THE LORD was laid.
Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And to bring the firstfruits of our ground, and the firstfruits of all fruit of all trees, year by year, unto the HOUSE OF THE LORD:
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the HOUSE OF THE LORD for ever.
One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the HOUSE OF THE LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.
Those that be planted in the HOUSE OF THE LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
{A Song of degrees of David.} I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
{A Song of degrees.} Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and spread it before the LORD.
The LORD was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.
Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king's house unto the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and sat down in the entry of the new gate of the LORD'S house.
But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.
Yea, thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem;
And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, and in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, which was of Gibeon, spake unto me in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon. Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of the LORD'S house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon: And I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, saith the LORD: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon. read more Then the prophet Jeremiah said unto the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, Even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: the LORD do so: the LORD perform thy words which thou hast prophesied, to bring again the vessels of the LORD'S house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place. Nevertheless hear thou now this word that I speak in thine ears, and in the ears of all the people; The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence. The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him. Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and brake it. And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way. Then the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the prophet, after that Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast broken the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron. For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also. Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie. Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD. So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month. show less
Then the prophet Jeremiah said unto the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the HOUSE OF THE LORD,
The LORD hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks.
The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the HOUSE OF THE LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.
Go unto the house of the Rechabites, and speak unto them, and bring them into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.
And I brought them into the HOUSE OF THE LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door:
And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I cannot go into the HOUSE OF THE LORD:
Then read Baruch in the book the words of Jeremiah in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the entry of the new gate of the LORD'S house, in the ears of all the people.
Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took Jeremiah the prophet unto him into the third entry that is in the HOUSE OF THE LORD: and the king said unto Jeremiah, I will ask thee a thing; hide nothing from me.
That there came certain from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even fourscore men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
And burned the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and the king's house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great men, burned he with fire:
Also the pillars of brass that were in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and the bases, and the brasen sea that was in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, the Chaldeans brake, and carried all the brass of them to Babylon.
The two pillars, one sea, and twelve brasen bulls that were under the bases, which king Solomon had made in the HOUSE OF THE LORD: the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary, he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the HOUSE OF THE LORD, as in the day of a solemn feast.
Then brought he me the way of the north gate before the house: and I looked, and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the HOUSE OF THE LORD: and I fell upon my face.
And the LORD said unto me, Son of man, mark well, and behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears all that I say unto thee concerning all the ordinances of the HOUSE OF THE LORD, and all the laws thereof; and mark well the entering in of the house, with every going forth of the sanctuary.
Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the HOUSE OF THE LORD, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.
The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the HOUSE OF THE LORD; the priests, the LORD'S ministers, mourn.
Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the HOUSE OF THE LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD,
But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the HOUSE OF THE LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the HOUSE OF THE LORD of hosts, their God,
And to speak unto the priests which were in the HOUSE OF THE LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, which were in the day that the foundation of the HOUSE OF THE LORD of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.
And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the HOUSE OF THE LORD.
Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts: and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein: and in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the HOUSE OF THE LORD of hosts.
