My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,

According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation:

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
