(mat' tuh nuh) Place name meaning, “gift.” Stopping place in the wilderness (Numbers 21:18-19 ). The site is perhaps identical with khirbet el-Medeiyineh about twelve miles southeast of Madeba. Pottery shards at that site indicate occupation from before 1,200 to about 800 B.C.
