(ssal' lay i) Personal name perhaps meaning, “the restored one.” 1. Benjaminite who lived in Jerusalem after Exile (Nehemiah 11:8 ). Commentators often emend the Hebrew text to read, “and his brothers, men of valor.” Others read, “Sallu.” 2. Priestly family after the Exile (Nehemiah 12:20 ), apparently the same as Sallu (Nehemiah 12:7 ).
