(meh rib buh' uhl) Personal name of disputed meaning: “opponent of Baal,” “obstinacy of Baal,” “beloved or hero of Baal,” or “Baal defends.” Original name of Mephibosheth. See 1 Chronicles 8:34 ; 1 Chronicles 9:40 , the latter with the Hebrew spelling “hero” compared to the former's spelling “opponent.”
