Genesis 2: And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 2: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Genesis 3: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Genesis 3: And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
Genesis 6: And GOD saw that the wickedness of man
was great in the earth, and
that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart
was only evil continually.
Genesis 8: And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart
is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
Genesis 19: Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:
Genesis 29: And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.
Genesis 34: And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males.
Genesis 34: And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I
being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.
Genesis 35: The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:
Genesis 37: These
are the generations of Jacob. Joseph,
being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad
was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.
Genesis 37: Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.
Genesis 37: And he knew it, and said,
It is my son's coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces.
Genesis 44: And when they were gone out of the city,
and not
yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good?
Genesis 44: Is not this
it in which my lord drinketh, and whereby indeed he divineth? ye have done evil in so doing.
Genesis 44: For how shall I go up to my father, and the lad
be not with me? lest peradventure I see the evil that shall come on my father.
Genesis 45: And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived:
Genesis 46: And the sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
Genesis 47: And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage
are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.
Genesis 48: The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.
Genesis 49: Simeon and Levi
are brethren; instruments of cruelty
are in their habitations.
Genesis 50: And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.
Genesis 50: So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.
Genesis 50: But as for you, ye thought evil against me;
but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as
it is this day, to save much people alive.
Exodus 2: And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took
to wife a daughter of Levi.
Exodus 4: And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said,
Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.
Exodus 5: And the officers of the children of Israel did see
that they
were in evil
case, after it was said, Ye shall not minish
ought from your bricks of your daily task.
Exodus 5: And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou
so evil entreated this people? why
is it
that thou hast sent me?
Exodus 5: For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.
Exodus 6: And these
are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari: and the years of the life of Levi
were an hundred thirty and seven years.
Exodus 6: And the sons of Merari; Mahali and Mushi: these
are the families of Levi according to their generations.
Exodus 6: And Eleazar Aaron's son took him
one of the daughters of Putiel to wife; and she bare him Phinehas: these
are the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their families.
Exodus 10: And he said unto them, Let the LORD be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look
to it; for evil
is before you.
Exodus 22: Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.
Exodus 23: Thou shalt not follow a multitude to
do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest
judgment:
Exodus 31: To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,
Exodus 32: Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.
Exodus 32: And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.
Exodus 32: Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who
is on the LORD'S side?
let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.
Exodus 32: And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.
Exodus 33: And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.
Exodus 35: And to devise curious works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,
Exodus 35: Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver,
even of them that do any work, and of those that devise cunning work.
Exodus 38: This is the sum of the tabernacle,
even of the tabernacle of testimony, as it was counted, according to the commandment of Moses,
for the service of the Levites, by the hand of Ithamar, son to Aaron the priest.
Leviticus 5: Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with
his lips to do evil, or to do good, whatsoever
it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth
of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these.
Leviticus 17: And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations.
Leviticus 25: Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites,
and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time.
Leviticus 25: And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in
the year of jubile: for the houses of the cities of the Levites
are their possession among the children of Israel.
Leviticus 26: And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make
you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.
Numbers 1: But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.
Numbers 1: Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:
Numbers 1: But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that
belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.
Numbers 1: And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
Numbers 1: But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.
Numbers 2: Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camp: as they encamp, so shall they set forward, every man in his place by their standards.
Numbers 2: But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel; as the LORD commanded Moses.
Numbers 3: Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.
Numbers 3: And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they
are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel.
Numbers 3: And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;
Numbers 3: Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers, by their families: every male from a month old and upward shalt thou number them.
Numbers 3: And these were the sons of Levi by their names; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari.
Numbers 3: And the sons of Merari by their families; Mahli, and Mushi. These
are the families of the Levites according to the house of their fathers.
Numbers 3: And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest
shall be chief over the chief of the Levites,
and have the oversight of them that keep the charge of the sanctuary.
Numbers 3: All that were numbered of the Levites, which Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of the LORD, throughout their families, all the males from a month old and upward,
were twenty and two thousand.
Numbers 3: And thou shalt take the Levites for me (I
am the LORD) instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel; and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstlings among the cattle of the children of Israel.
Numbers 3: Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I
am the LORD.
Numbers 3: And for those that are to be redeemed of the two hundred and threescore and thirteen of the firstborn of the children of Israel, which are more than the Levites;
Numbers 3: And Moses took the redemption money of them that were over and above them that were redeemed by the Levites:
Numbers 4: Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, by the house of their fathers,
Numbers 4: Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites:
Numbers 4: All those that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the chief of Israel numbered, after their families, and after the house of their fathers,
Numbers 7: Take
it of them, that they may be to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, to every man according to his service.
Numbers 7: And Moses took the wagons and the oxen, and gave them unto the Levites.
Numbers 8: Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.
Numbers 8: And thou shalt bring the Levites before the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt gather the whole assembly of the children of Israel together:
Numbers 8: And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:
Numbers 8: And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD
for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD.
Numbers 8: And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one
for a sin offering, and the other
for a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an atonement for the Levites.
Numbers 8: And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them
for an offering unto the LORD.
Numbers 8: Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.
Numbers 8: And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them
for an offering.
Numbers 8: And I have taken the Levites for all the firstborn of the children of Israel.
Numbers 8: And I have given the Levites
as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.
Numbers 8: And Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, did to the Levites according unto all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them.
Numbers 8: And the Levites were purified, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them
as an offering before the LORD; and Aaron made an atonement for them to cleanse them.
Numbers 8: And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.
Numbers 8: This
is it that
belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:
Numbers 8: But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.
Numbers 13: And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it,
is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it
are men of a great stature.
Numbers 14: How long
shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.
Numbers 14: I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.
Numbers 14: Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD.
Numbers 16: Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took
men:
Numbers 16: And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow: and it shall be
that the man whom the LORD doth choose, he
shall be holy:
ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.
Numbers 16: And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi:
Numbers 16: And he hath brought thee near
to him, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also?
Numbers 17: And thou shalt write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod
shall be for the head of the house of their fathers.
Numbers 17: And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.
Numbers 18: And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee
shall minister before the tabernacle of witness.
Numbers 18: And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you
they are given
as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Numbers 18: And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve,
even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Numbers 18: But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity:
it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.
Numbers 18: But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer
as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.
Numbers 18: Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD,
even a tenth
part of the tithe.
Numbers 18: Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the increase of the winepress.
Numbers 20: And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it
is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither
is there any water to drink.
Numbers 26: And these
are they that were numbered of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites: of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites: of Merari, the family of the Merarites.
Numbers 26: These
are the families of the Levites: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Hebronites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, the family of the Korathites. And Kohath begat Amram.
Numbers 26: And the name of Amram's wife
was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, whom
her mother bare to Levi in Egypt: and she bare unto Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.
Numbers 31: And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain;
namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.
Numbers 31: And of the children of Israel's half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the beeves, of the asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of beasts, and give them unto the Levites, which keep the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.
Numbers 31: Even of the children of Israel's half, Moses took one portion of fifty,
both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, which kept the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.
Numbers 32: And the LORD'S anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed.
Numbers 35: Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give
also unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.
Numbers 35: And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites,
shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.
Numbers 35: And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites
there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.
Numbers 35: So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites
shall be forty and eight cities: them
shall ye give with their suburbs.
Numbers 35: And the cities which ye shall give
shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from
them that have many ye shall give many; but from
them that have few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.
Deuteronomy 1: Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,
Deuteronomy 1: Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.
Deuteronomy 4: When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt
yourselves, and make a graven image,
or the likeness of any
thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger:
Deuteronomy 7: And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all
them that hate thee.
Deuteronomy 10: At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.
Deuteronomy 10: Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD
is his inheritance, according as the LORD thy God promised him.
Deuteronomy 12: And ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that
is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.
Deuteronomy 12: But thou must eat them before the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that
is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God in all that thou puttest thine hands unto.
Deuteronomy 12: Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite as long as thou livest upon the earth.
Deuteronomy 13: And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn
you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.
Deuteronomy 14: And the Levite that
is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.
Deuteronomy 14: And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which
are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
Deuteronomy 15: Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin unto thee.
Deuteronomy 16: And thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that
is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that
are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to place his name there.
Deuteronomy 16: And thou shalt rejoice in thy feast, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite, the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that
are within thy gates.
Deuteronomy 17: Thou shalt not sacrifice unto the LORD thy God
any bullock, or sheep, wherein is blemish,
or any evilfavouredness: for that
is an abomination unto the LORD thy God.
Deuteronomy 17: The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So thou shalt put the evil away from among you.
Deuteronomy 17: And thou shalt come unto the priests the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days, and inquire; and they shall shew thee the sentence of judgment:
Deuteronomy 17: And the man that will do presumptuously, and will not hearken unto the priest that standeth to minister there before the LORD thy God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel.
Deuteronomy 17: And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of
that which is before the priests the Levites:
Deuteronomy 18: The priests the Levites,
and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.
Deuteronomy 18: And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose;
Deuteronomy 18: Then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites
do, which stand there before the LORD.
Deuteronomy 19: Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.
Deuteronomy 19: And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.
Deuteronomy 21: And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be
tried:
Deuteronomy 21: And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.
Deuteronomy 22: And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid:
Deuteronomy 22: And they shall amerce him in an hundred
shekels of silver, and give
them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
Deuteronomy 22: Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.
Deuteronomy 22: If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die,
both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.
Deuteronomy 22: Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not,
being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.
Deuteronomy 24: If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and maketh merchandise of him, or selleth him; then that thief shall die; and thou shalt put evil away from among you.
Deuteronomy 24: Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them,
so ye shall observe to do.
Deuteronomy 26: And the Egyptians evil entreated us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage:
Deuteronomy 26: And thou shalt rejoice in every good
thing which the LORD thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine house, thou, and the Levite, and the stranger that
is among you.
Deuteronomy 26: When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year,
which is the year of tithing, and hast given
it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;
Deuteronomy 26: Then thou shalt say before the LORD thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of
mine house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten
them:
Deuteronomy 27: And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the LORD thy God.
Deuteronomy 27: These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:
Deuteronomy 27: And the Levites shall speak, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice,
Deuteronomy 28: So that the man
that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:
Deuteronomy 28: The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,
Deuteronomy 29: And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:
Deuteronomy 30: See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
Deuteronomy 31: And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and unto all the elders of Israel.
Deuteronomy 31: Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God
is not among us?
Deuteronomy 31: And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.
Deuteronomy 31: And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.
Deuteronomy 31: That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying,
Deuteronomy 31: For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt
yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.
Deuteronomy 32: They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new
gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.
Deuteronomy 33: And of Levi he said,
Let thy Thummim and thy Urim
be with thy holy one, whom thou didst prove at Massah,
and with whom thou didst strive at the waters of Meribah;
Joshua 3: And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it.
Joshua 8: And all Israel, and their elders, and officers, and their judges, stood on this side the ark and on that side before the priests the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, as well the stranger, as he that was born among them; half of them over against mount Gerizim, and half of them over against mount Ebal; as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded before, that they should bless the people of Israel.
Joshua 13: Only unto the tribe of Levi he gave none inheritance; the sacrifices of the LORD God of Israel made by fire
are their inheritance, as he said unto them.
Joshua 13: And all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, which reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses smote with the princes of Midian, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba,
which were dukes of Sihon, dwelling in the country.
Joshua 13: But unto the tribe of Levi Moses gave not
any inheritance: the LORD God of Israel
was their inheritance, as he said unto them.
Joshua 14: For Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half tribe on the other side Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave none inheritance among them.
Joshua 14: For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell
in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
Joshua 18: But the Levites have no part among you; for the priesthood of the LORD
is their inheritance: and Gad, and Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh, have received their inheritance beyond Jordan on the east, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave them.
Joshua 21: Then came near the heads of the fathers of the Levites unto Eleazar the priest, and unto Joshua the son of Nun, and unto the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel;
Joshua 21: And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites out of their inheritance, at the commandment of the LORD, these cities and their suburbs.
Joshua 21: And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron the priest,
which were of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.
Joshua 21: And the children of Israel gave by lot unto the Levites these cities with their suburbs, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
Joshua 21: Which the children of Aaron,
being of the families of the Kohathites,
who were of the children of Levi, had: for theirs was the first lot.
Joshua 21: And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites which remained of the children of Kohath, even they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.
Joshua 21: And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the
other half tribe of Manasseh
they gave Golan in Bashan with her suburbs,
to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Beeshterah with her suburbs; two cities.
Joshua 21: And unto the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with her suburbs, and Kartah with her suburbs,
Joshua 21: So all the cities for the children of Merari by their families, which were remaining of the families of the Levites, were
by their lot twelve cities.
Joshua 21: All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel
were forty and eight cities with their suburbs.
Joshua 23: Therefore it shall come to pass,
that as all good things are come upon you, which the LORD your God promised you; so shall the LORD bring upon you all evil things, until he have destroyed you from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.
Joshua 24: And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that
were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Judges 2: And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:
Judges 2: Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.

Judges 9: Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech:
Judges 9: And all the evil of the men of Shechem did God render upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
Judges 10: And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him.
Judges 13: And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.
Judges 15: But God clave an hollow place that
was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof Enhakkore, which
is in Lehi unto this day.
Judges 17: And there was a young man out of Bethlehemjudah of the family of Judah, who
was a Levite, and he sojourned there.
Judges 17: And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him, I
am a Levite of Bethlehemjudah, and I go to sojourn where I may find
a place.
Judges 17: And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten
shekels of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in.
Judges 17: And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.
Judges 17: And Micah consecrated the Levite; and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.
Judges 17: Then said Micah, Now know I that the LORD will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to
my priest.
Judges 18: When they
were by the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite: and they turned in thither, and said unto him, Who brought thee hither? and what makest thou in this
place? and what hast thou here?
Judges 18: And they turned thitherward, and came to the house of the young man the Levite,
even unto the house of Micah, and saluted him.
Judges 19: And it came to pass in those days, when
there was no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite sojourning on the side of mount Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Bethlehemjudah.
Judges 20: And the Levite, the husband of the woman that was slain, answered and said, I came into Gibeah that
belongeth to Benjamin, I and my concubine, to lodge.
Judges 20: Now therefore deliver
us the men, the children of Belial, which
are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel:
Judges 20: And there came against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was sore: but they knew not that evil
was near them.
Judges 20: And when the men of Israel turned again, the men of Benjamin were amazed: for they saw that evil was come upon them.
1 Samuel 2: And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people.
1 Samuel 6: And see, if it goeth up by the way of his own coast to Bethshemesh,
then he hath done us this great evil: but if not, then we shall know that
it is not his hand
that smote us; it
was a chance
that happened to us.
1 Samuel 6: And the Levites took down the ark of the LORD, and the coffer that
was with it, wherein the jewels of gold
were, and put
them on the great stone: and the men of Bethshemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day unto the LORD.
1 Samuel 12: And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto the LORD thy God, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins
this evil, to ask us a king.
1 Samuel 15: Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD?
1 Samuel 16: But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.
1 Samuel 16: And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.
1 Samuel 16: Let our lord now command thy servants,
which are before thee, to seek out a man,
who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well.
1 Samuel 16: And it came to pass, when the
evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.
1 Samuel 18: And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and
there was a javelin in Saul's hand.
1 Samuel 19: And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with
his hand.
1 Samuel 20: If he say thus,
It is well; thy servant shall have peace: but if he be very wroth,
then be sure that evil is determined by him.
1 Samuel 20: And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?
1 Samuel 20: The LORD do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it please my father
to do thee evil, then I will shew it thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and the LORD be with thee, as he hath been with my father.
1 Samuel 24: Moreover, my father, see, yea, see the skirt of thy robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe, and killed thee not, know thou and see that
there is neither evil nor transgression in mine hand, and I have not sinned against thee; yet thou huntest my soul to take it.
1 Samuel 24: And he said to David, Thou
art more righteous than I: for thou hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil.
1 Samuel 25: Now the name of the man
was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and
she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man
was churlish and evil in his doings; and he
was of the house of Caleb.
1 Samuel 25: Now therefore know and consider what thou wilt do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he
is such a son of Belial, that
a man cannot speak to him.
1 Samuel 25: Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this
fellow hath in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that
pertained unto him: and he hath requited me evil for good.
1 Samuel 25: Now therefore, my lord,
as the LORD liveth, and
as thy soul liveth, seeing the LORD hath withholden thee from coming to
shed blood, and from avenging thyself with thine own hand, now let thine enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal.
1 Samuel 25: I pray thee, forgive the trespass of thine handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fighteth the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been found in thee
all thy days.
1 Samuel 25: And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed
be the LORD, that hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept his servant from evil: for the LORD hath returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed with Abigail, to take her to him to wife.
1 Samuel 26: And he said, Wherefore doth my lord thus pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil
is in mine hand?
1 Samuel 29: Then Achish called David, and said unto him, Surely,
as the LORD liveth, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the host
is good in my sight: for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day: nevertheless the lords favour thee not.
2 Samuel 3: And I
am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah
be too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.
2 Samuel 12: Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife
to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
2 Samuel 12: Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give
them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.
2 Samuel 13: And she said unto him,
There is no cause: this evil in sending me away
is greater than the other that thou didst unto me. But he would not hearken unto her.
2 Samuel 14: For we must needs die, and
are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect
any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.
2 Samuel 15: And David said unto all his servants that
were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not
else escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.
2 Samuel 15: And lo Zadok also, and all the Levites
were with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God: and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city.
2 Samuel 17: And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite
is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.
2 Samuel 19: Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak comfortably unto thy servants: for I swear by the LORD, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry one with thee this night: and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that befell thee from thy youth until now.

am this day fourscore years old:
and can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?
2 Samuel 21: And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us
that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,
2 Samuel 24: And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.
1 Kings 5: But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side,
so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent.

thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.
1 Kings 21: Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,
1 Kings 21: Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days:
but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house.
1 Kings 22: And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat,
There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
1 Kings 22: And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?

which three were born unto him of the daughter of Shua the Canaanitess. And Er, the firstborn of Judah, was evil in the sight of the LORD; and he slew him.
1 Chronicles 4: And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep
me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
1 Chronicles 6: The sons of Merari; Mahli, and Mushi. And these
are the families of the Levites according to their fathers.
1 Chronicles 6: The son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.
1 Chronicles 6: The son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.
1 Chronicles 6: Their brethren also the Levites
were appointed unto all manner of service of the tabernacle of the house of God.
1 Chronicles 6: And the children of Israel gave to the Levites
these cities with their suburbs.
1 Chronicles 7: And when he went in to his wife, she conceived, and bare a son, and he called his name Beriah, because it went evil with his house.
1 Chronicles 9: Now the first inhabitants that
dwelt in their possessions in their cities
were, the Israelites, the priests, Levites, and the Nethinims.
1 Chronicles 9: And of the Levites; Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari;
1 Chronicles 9: Who hitherto
waited in the king's gate eastward: they
were porters in the companies of the children of Levi.
1 Chronicles 9: For these Levites, the four chief porters, were in
their set office, and were over the chambers and treasuries of the house of God.
1 Chronicles 9: And Mattithiah,
one of the Levites, who
was the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, had the set office over the things that were made in the pans.
1 Chronicles 9: And these
are the singers, chief of the fathers of the Levites,
who remaining in the chambers
were free: for they were employed in
that work day and night.
1 Chronicles 9: These chief fathers of the Levites
were chief throughout their generations; these dwelt at Jerusalem.
1 Chronicles 13: And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If
it seem good unto you, and
that it be of the LORD our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where,
that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them
also to the priests and Levites
which are in their cities
and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:
1 Chronicles 15: Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.

1 Chronicles 15: So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel.
1 Chronicles 15: And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD.
1 Chronicles 15: And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren
to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.
1 Chronicles 15: So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;
1 Chronicles 15: And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites,
was for song: he instructed about the song, because he
was skilful.
1 Chronicles 15: And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.
1 Chronicles 15: And David
was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also
had upon him an ephod of linen.
1 Chronicles 16: And he appointed
certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:
1 Chronicles 21: But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king's word was abominable to Joab.
1 Chronicles 21: And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

Is it not I
that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but
as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
1 Chronicles 23: And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.
1 Chronicles 23: Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.
1 Chronicles 23: And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi,
namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
1 Chronicles 23: Now
concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.
1 Chronicles 23: These
were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers;
even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward.
1 Chronicles 23: And also unto the Levites; they shall no
more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.
1 Chronicles 23: For by the last words of David the Levites
were numbered from twenty years old and above:
1 Chronicles 24: And Shemaiah the son of Nethaneel the scribe,
one of the Levites, wrote them before the king, and the princes, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and
before the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites: one principal household being taken for Eleazar, and
one taken for Ithamar.
1 Chronicles 24: And the rest of the sons of Levi
were these: Of the sons of Amram; Shubael: of the sons of Shubael; Jehdeiah.
1 Chronicles 24: The sons also of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth. These
were the sons of the Levites after the house of their fathers.
1 Chronicles 24: These likewise cast lots over against their brethren the sons of Aaron in the presence of David the king, and Zadok, and Ahimelech, and the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites, even the principal fathers over against their younger brethren.
1 Chronicles 26: Eastward
were six Levites, northward four a day, southward four a day, and toward Asuppim two
and two.
1 Chronicles 26: And of the Levites, Ahijah
was over the treasures of the house of God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things.

2 Chronicles 5: And all the elders of Israel came; and the Levites took up the ark.
2 Chronicles 5: And they brought up the ark, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that
were in the tabernacle, these did the priests
and the Levites bring up.
2 Chronicles 5: Also the Levites
which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren,
being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:)
2 Chronicles 7: And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy
endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.
2 Chronicles 7: And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.
2 Chronicles 8: And he appointed, according to the order of David his father, the courses of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their charges, to praise and minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required: the porters also by their courses at every gate: for so had David the man of God commanded.
2 Chronicles 8: And they departed not from the commandment of the king unto the priests and Levites concerning any matter, or concerning the treasures.
2 Chronicles 11: And the priests and the Levites that
were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their coasts.
2 Chronicles 11: For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest's office unto the LORD:
2 Chronicles 11: And he ordained him priests for the high places, and for the devils, and for the calves which he had made.
2 Chronicles 12: And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.
2 Chronicles 13: Have ye not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the nations of
other lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams,
the same may be a priest of
them that are no gods.
2 Chronicles 13: But as for us, the LORD
is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, which minister unto the LORD,
are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites
wait upon
their business:
2 Chronicles 17: And with them
he sent Levites,
even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
2 Chronicles 18: And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat,
There is yet one man, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same
is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
2 Chronicles 18: And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee
that he would not prophesy good unto me, but evil?
2 Chronicles 18: Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.
2 Chronicles 19: Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites, and
of the priests, and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the LORD, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.
2 Chronicles 19: And, behold, Amariah the chief priest
is over you in all matters of the LORD; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, for all the king's matters: also the Levites
shall be officers before you. Deal courageously, and the LORD shall be with the good.
2 Chronicles 20: If,
when evil cometh upon us,
as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name
is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.
2 Chronicles 20: Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;
2 Chronicles 20: And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
2 Chronicles 21: And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought
that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.
2 Chronicles 22: Wherefore he did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab: for they were his counsellers after the death of his father to his destruction.
2 Chronicles 23: And they went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the chief of the fathers of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.
2 Chronicles 23: This
is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you entering on the sabbath, of the priests and of the Levites,
shall be porters of the doors;
2 Chronicles 23: But let none come into the house of the LORD, save the priests, and they that minister of the Levites; they shall go in, for they
are holy: but all the people shall keep the watch of the LORD.
2 Chronicles 23: And the Levites shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whosoever
else cometh into the house, he shall be put to death: but be ye with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out.
2 Chronicles 23: So the Levites and all Judah did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest had commanded, and took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that were to go
out on the sabbath: for Jehoiada the priest dismissed not the courses.
2 Chronicles 23: Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the LORD by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the LORD, to offer the burnt offerings of the LORD, as
it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing,
as it was ordained by David.
2 Chronicles 24: And he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out unto the cities of Judah, and gather of all Israel money to repair the house of your God from year to year, and see that ye hasten the matter. Howbeit the Levites hastened
it not.
2 Chronicles 24: And the king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said unto him, Why hast thou not required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the collection,
according to the commandment of Moses the servant of the LORD, and of the congregation of Israel, for the tabernacle of witness?
2 Chronicles 24: Now it came to pass, that at what time the chest was brought unto the king's office by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that
there was much money, the king's scribe and the high priest's officer came and emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to his place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance.
2 Chronicles 29: And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street,
2 Chronicles 29: And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the LORD God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy
place.
2 Chronicles 29: For our fathers have trespassed, and done
that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the LORD, and turned
their backs.
2 Chronicles 29: Then the Levites arose, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites: and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehalelel: and of the Gershonites; Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah:
2 Chronicles 29: And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD, to cleanse
it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court of the house of the LORD. And the Levites took
it, to carry
it out abroad into the brook Kidron.
2 Chronicles 29: And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for
so was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.
2 Chronicles 29: And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.
2 Chronicles 29: Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.
2 Chronicles 29: But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the
other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites
were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.
2 Chronicles 30: Then they killed the passover on the fourteenth
day of the second month: and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought in the burnt offerings into the house of the LORD.
2 Chronicles 30: And they stood in their place after their manner, according to the law of Moses the man of God: the priests sprinkled the blood,
which they received of the hand of the Levites.
2 Chronicles 30: For
there were many in the congregation that were not sanctified: therefore the Levites had the charge of the killing of the passovers for every one
that was not clean, to sanctify
them unto the LORD.
2 Chronicles 30: And the children of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness: and the Levites and the priests praised the LORD day by day,
singing with loud instruments unto the LORD.
2 Chronicles 30: And Hezekiah spake comfortably unto all the Levites that taught the good knowledge of the LORD: and they did eat throughout the feast seven days, offering peace offerings, and making confession to the LORD God of their fathers.
2 Chronicles 30: And all the congregation of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation that came out of Israel, and the strangers that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Judah, rejoiced.
2 Chronicles 30: Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came
up to his holy dwelling place,
even unto heaven.
2 Chronicles 31: And Hezekiah appointed the courses of the priests and the Levites after their courses, every man according to his service, the priests and Levites for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the tents of the LORD.
2 Chronicles 31: Moreover he commanded the people that dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the law of the LORD.
2 Chronicles 31: Then Hezekiah questioned with the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps.
2 Chronicles 31: And brought in the offerings and the tithes and the dedicated
things faithfully: over which Cononiah the Levite
was ruler, and Shimei his brother
was the next.
2 Chronicles 31: And Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, the porter toward the east,
was over the freewill offerings of God, to distribute the oblations of the LORD, and the most holy things.
2 Chronicles 31: Both to the genealogy of the priests by the house of their fathers, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their charges by their courses;
2 Chronicles 31: Also of the sons of Aaron the priests,
which were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every several city, the men that were expressed by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all that were reckoned by genealogies among the Levites.
2 Chronicles 33: But did
that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.
2 Chronicles 33: And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
2 Chronicles 33: But he did
that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as did Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed unto all the carved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them;
2 Chronicles 34: And when they came to Hilkiah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin; and they returned to Jerusalem.
2 Chronicles 34: And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them
were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set
it forward; and
other of the Levites, all that could skill of instruments of musick.
2 Chronicles 34: Also
they were over the bearers of burdens, and
were overseers of all that wrought the work in any manner of service: and of the Levites
there were scribes, and officers, and porters.
2 Chronicles 34: Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof,
even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah:
2 Chronicles 34: Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again.
2 Chronicles 34: And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the LORD.
2 Chronicles 35: And said unto the Levites that taught all Israel, which were holy unto the LORD, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build;
it shall not
be a burden upon
your shoulders: serve now the LORD your God, and his people Israel,
2 Chronicles 35: And stand in the holy
place according to the divisions of the families of the fathers of your brethren the people, and
after the division of the families of the Levites.
2 Chronicles 35: And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests for the passover offerings two thousand and six hundred
small cattle, and three hundred oxen.
2 Chronicles 35: Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave unto the Levites for passover offerings five thousand
small cattle, and five hundred oxen.
2 Chronicles 35: So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites in their courses, according to the king's commandment.
2 Chronicles 35: And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled
the blood from their hands, and the Levites flayed
them.
2 Chronicles 35: And afterward they made ready for themselves, and for the priests: because the priests the sons of Aaron
were busied in offering of burnt offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron.
2 Chronicles 35: And the singers the sons of Asaph
were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king's seer; and the porters
waited at every gate; they might not depart from their service; for their brethren the Levites prepared for them.
2 Chronicles 35: And there was no passover like to that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did all the kings of Israel keep such a passover as Josiah kept, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel that were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
2 Chronicles 36: Jehoiakim
was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did
that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.
2 Chronicles 36: Jehoiachin
was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did
that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
2 Chronicles 36: And he did
that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God,
and humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet
speaking from the mouth of the LORD.
Ezra 1: Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all
them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which
is in Jerusalem.
Ezra 2: The Levites: the children of Jeshua and Kadmiel, of the children of Hodaviah, seventy and four.
Ezra 2: So the priests, and the Levites, and
some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
Ezra 3: Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the LORD.
Ezra 3: Then stood Jeshua
with his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to set forward the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad,
with their sons and their brethren the Levites.
Ezra 3: And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the LORD, after the ordinance of David king of Israel.
Ezra 3: But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers,
who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:

wrote Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions; the Dinaites, the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Susanchites, the Dehavites,
and the Elamites,
Ezra 6: And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy,
Ezra 6: And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which
is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses.
Ezra 6: For the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them
were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.
Ezra 7: And there went up
some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.
Ezra 7: I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and
of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.
Ezra 7: Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.
Ezra 8: And I gathered them together to the river that runneth to Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.
Ezra 8: And by the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen;
Ezra 8: Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.
Ezra 8: Watch ye, and keep
them, until ye weigh
them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.
Ezra 8: So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring
them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.
Ezra 8: Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him
was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them
was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites;
Ezra 9: Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands,
doing according to their abominations,
even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.
Ezra 9: And now for a little space grace hath been
shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.
Ezra 9: For we
were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.
Ezra 9: And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities
deserve, and hast given us
such deliverance as this;
Ezra 10: Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware.
Ezra 10: Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this
matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.
Ezra 10: Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same
is Kelita,) Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.
Nehemiah 3: After him repaired the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani. Next unto him repaired Hashabiah, the ruler of the half part of Keilah, in his part.
Nehemiah 4: And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
Nehemiah 6: Therefore
was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and
that they might have
matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.
Nehemiah 7: Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
Nehemiah 7: The Levites: the children of Jeshua, of Kadmiel,
and of the children of Hodevah, seventy and four.
Nehemiah 7: So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and
some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel
were in their cities.
Nehemiah 8: Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people
stood in their place.
Nehemiah 8: And Nehemiah, which
is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day
is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
Nehemiah 8: So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day
is holy; neither be ye grieved.
Nehemiah 8: And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law.
Nehemiah 9: Then stood up upon the stairs, of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani,
and Chenani, and cried with a loud voice unto the LORD their God.
Nehemiah 9: Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah,
and Pethahiah, said, Stand up
and bless the LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.
Nehemiah 9: But after they had rest, they did evil again before thee: therefore leftest thou them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them: yet when they returned, and cried unto thee, thou heardest
them from heaven; and many times didst thou deliver them according to thy mercies;
Nehemiah 9: And because of all this we make a sure
covenant, and write
it; and our princes, Levites,
and priests, seal
unto it.
Nehemiah 10: And the Levites: both Jeshua the son of Azaniah, Binnui of the sons of Henadad, Kadmiel;
Nehemiah 10: And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;
Nehemiah 10: And we cast the lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for the wood offering, to bring
it into the house of our God, after the houses of our fathers, at times appointed year by year, to burn upon the altar of the LORD our God, as
it is written in the law:
Nehemiah 10: And
that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage.
Nehemiah 10: And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes unto the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house.
Nehemiah 10: For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers, where
are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.
Nehemiah 11: Now these
are the chief of the province that dwelt in Jerusalem: but in the cities of Judah dwelt every one in his possession in their cities,
to wit, Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants.
Nehemiah 11: Also of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hashub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;
Nehemiah 11: And Shabbethai and Jozabad, of the chief of the Levites,
had the oversight of the outward business of the house of God.
Nehemiah 11: All the Levites in the holy city
were two hundred fourscore and four.
Nehemiah 11: And the residue of Israel, of the priests,
and the Levites,
were in all the cities of Judah, every one in his inheritance.
Nehemiah 11: The overseer also of the Levites at Jerusalem
was Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micha. Of the sons of Asaph, the singers
were over the business of the house of God.
Nehemiah 11: And of the Levites
were divisions
in Judah,
and in Benjamin.
Nehemiah 12: Now these
are the priests and the Levites that went up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,
Nehemiah 12: Moreover the Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah,
and Mattaniah,
which was over the thanksgiving, he and his brethren.
Nehemiah 12: The Levites in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, and Johanan, and Jaddua,
were recorded chief of the fathers: also the priests, to the reign of Darius the Persian.
Nehemiah 12: The sons of Levi, the chief of the fathers,
were written in the book of the chronicles, even until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib.
Nehemiah 12: And the chief of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brethren over against them, to praise
and to give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, ward over against ward.
Nehemiah 12: And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing,
with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps.
Nehemiah 12: And the priests and the Levites purified themselves, and purified the people, and the gates, and the wall.
Nehemiah 12: And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.
Nehemiah 12: And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel, and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the porters, every day his portion: and they sanctified
holy things unto the Levites; and the Levites sanctified
them unto the children of Aaron.
Nehemiah 13: And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meat offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded
to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests.
Nehemiah 13: And I came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God.
Nehemiah 13: And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given
them: for the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field.
Nehemiah 13: And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them
was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithful, and their office
was to distribute unto their brethren.
Nehemiah 13: Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing
is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day?
Nehemiah 13: Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath.
Nehemiah 13: And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and
that they should come
and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember me, O my God,
concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.
Nehemiah 13: Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives?
Nehemiah 13: Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.
Nehemiah 13: Thus cleansed I them from all strangers, and appointed the wards of the priests and the Levites, every one in his business;
Esther 7: And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath
went into the palace garden: and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.
Esther 8: And Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.
Esther 8: And said, If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing
seem right before the king, and I
be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which
are in all the king's provinces:
Esther 8: For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?
Esther 9: Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that
is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them;
Esther 9: But when
Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.
Job 1: There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name
was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
Job 1: And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that
there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
Job 2: And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that
there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
Job 2: But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
Job 2: Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.
Job 5: He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform
their enterprise.
Job 5: He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
Job 6: Now therefore be content, look upon me; for
it is evident unto you if I lie.
Job 8: Behold, God will not cast away a perfect
man, neither will he help the evil doers:
Job 21: Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices
which ye wrongfully imagine against me.
Job 24: He evil entreateth the barren
that beareth not: and doeth not good to the widow.
Job 28: And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that
is wisdom; and to depart from evil
is understanding.
Job 30: When I looked for good, then evil came
unto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkness.
Job 31: If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:
Job 35: There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
Job 41: Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord
which thou lettest down?
Job 42: Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.
Psalms 5: For thou
art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
Psalms 7: If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)
Psalms 10: The wicked in
his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
Psalms 10: Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil
man: seek out his wickedness
till thou find none.

Psalms 37: Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

Proverbs 19: The fear of the LORD
tendeth to life: and
he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
Proverbs 20: A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.
Proverbs 20: Say not thou, I will recompense evil;
but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.
Proverbs 20: The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so
do stripes the inward parts of the belly.
Proverbs 21: The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
Proverbs 22: A prudent
man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
Proverbs 23: Eat thou not the bread of
him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:
Proverbs 24: Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
Proverbs 24: He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
Proverbs 24: Fret not thyself because of evil
men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;
Proverbs 24: For there shall be no reward to the evil
man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
Proverbs 27: A prudent
man foreseeth the evil,
and hideth himself;
but the simple pass on,
and are punished.
Proverbs 28: Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all
things.
Proverbs 28: Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good
things in possession.
Proverbs 28: He that hasteth to be rich
hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.
Proverbs 29: In the transgression of an evil man
there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
Proverbs 30: If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil,
lay thine hand upon thy mouth.
Proverbs 31: She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
Ecclesiastes 2: For there is a man whose labour
is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he leave it
for his portion. This also
is vanity and a great evil.
Ecclesiastes 4: Yea, better
is he than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 5: Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.
Ecclesiastes 5: There is a sore evil
which I have seen under the sun,
namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.
Ecclesiastes 5: But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and
there is nothing in his hand.
Ecclesiastes 5: And this also
is a sore evil,
that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind?
Ecclesiastes 6: There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it
is common among men:
Ecclesiastes 6: A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this
is vanity, and it
is an evil disease.
Ecclesiastes 8: Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him.
Ecclesiastes 8: Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment.
Ecclesiastes 8: Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
Ecclesiastes 8: Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his
days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:
Ecclesiastes 9: This
is an evil among all
things that are done under the sun, that
there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness
is in their heart while they live, and after that
they go to the dead.
Ecclesiastes 9: Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do
it with thy might; for
there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
Ecclesiastes 9: For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so
are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.
Ecclesiastes 10: There is an evil
which I have seen under the sun, as an error
which proceedeth from the ruler:
Ecclesiastes 11: Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.
Ecclesiastes 11: Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth
are vanity.
Ecclesiastes 12: Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;
Ecclesiastes 12: For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether
it be good, or whether
it be evil.
Isaiah 1: Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
Isaiah 1: Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
Isaiah 3: The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide
it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
Isaiah 5: Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Isaiah 7: Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,
Isaiah 7: Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
Isaiah 7: For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.
Isaiah 9: Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one
is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand
is stretched out still.
Isaiah 13: And I will punish the world for
their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
Isaiah 14: Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land,
and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.
Isaiah 27: In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that
is in the sea.
Isaiah 31: Yet he also
is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.
Isaiah 32: The instruments also of the churl
are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.
Isaiah 32: But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.
Isaiah 33: He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;
Isaiah 41: Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye
are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold
it together.
Isaiah 45: I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these
things.
Isaiah 47: Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly,
which thou shalt not know.
Isaiah 51: Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart
is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.
Isaiah 56: Blessed
is the man
that doeth this, and the son of man
that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
Isaiah 57: The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth
it to heart: and merciful men
are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil
to come.
Isaiah 57: For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name
is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy
place, with him also
that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Isaiah 59: Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts
are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction
are in their paths.
Isaiah 59: Yea, truth faileth; and he
that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw
it, and it displeased him that
there was no judgment.
Isaiah 65: Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose
that wherein I delighted not.
Isaiah 66: I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose
that in which I delighted not.
Isaiah 66: And I will also take of them for priests
and for Levites, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 1: Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.
Jeremiah 2: Israel
was holiness unto the LORD,
and the firstfruits of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 2: For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters,
and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
Jeremiah 2: Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that
it is an evil
thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear
is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
Jeremiah 3: Will he reserve
his anger for ever? will he keep
it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.
Jeremiah 3: At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.
Jeremiah 4: Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench
it, because of the evil of your doings.
Jeremiah 4: Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.
Jeremiah 4: For my people
is foolish, they have not known me; they
are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they
are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
Jeremiah 5: They have belied the LORD, and said,
It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:
Jeremiah 6: O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Bethhaccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction.
Jeremiah 6: Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people,
even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.
Jeremiah 7: But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels
and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.
Jeremiah 7: For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the LORD: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.
Jeremiah 8: And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts.
Jeremiah 9: And they bend their tongues
like their bow
for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 10: They
are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also
is it in them to do good.
Jeremiah 11: Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded
them to do; but they did
them not.
Jeremiah 11: Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.
Jeremiah 11: What hath my beloved to do in mine house,
seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.
Jeremiah 11: For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.
Jeremiah 11: But I
was like a lamb
or an ox
that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me,
saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.
Jeremiah 11: And there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth,
even the year of their visitation.
Jeremiah 12: Thus saith the LORD against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them.
Jeremiah 13: This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.
Jeremiah 13: Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots?
then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.
Jeremiah 15: The LORD said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee
well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.
Jeremiah 16: And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? or what
is our iniquity? or what
is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?
Jeremiah 16: And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me:
Jeremiah 17: Be not a terror unto me: thou
art my hope in the day of evil.
Jeremiah 17: Let them be confounded that persecute me, but let not me be confounded: let them be dismayed, but let not me be dismayed: bring upon them the day of evil, and destroy them with double destruction.
Jeremiah 18: If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
Jeremiah 18: If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.
Jeremiah 18: Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.
Jeremiah 18: And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.
Jeremiah 18: Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.
Jeremiah 18: Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them,
and to turn away thy wrath from them.
Jeremiah 19: And say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle.
Jeremiah 19: Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words.
Jeremiah 20: Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD: for he hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
Jeremiah 21: For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the LORD: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.
Jeremiah 21: O house of David, thus saith the LORD; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver
him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench
it, because of the evil of your doings.
Jeremiah 23: Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 23: For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force
is not right.
Jeremiah 23: Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery
ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them,
even the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 23: I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.
Jeremiah 23: They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.
Jeremiah 23: But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.
Jeremiah 24: Then said the LORD unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.
Jeremiah 24: And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the LORD, So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt:
Jeremiah 25: They said, Turn ye again now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD hath given unto you and to your fathers for ever and ever:
Jeremiah 25: For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts.
Jeremiah 25: Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
Jeremiah 26: If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings.
Jeremiah 26: Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.
Jeremiah 26: Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls.
Jeremiah 28: The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.
Jeremiah 29: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Jeremiah 29: Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.
Jeremiah 32: And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed
it, and took witnesses, and weighed
him the money in the balances.
Jeremiah 32: So I took the evidence of the purchase,
both that which was sealed
according to the law and custom, and that which was open:
Jeremiah 32: And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle's
son, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.
Jeremiah 32: Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.
Jeremiah 32: Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying,
Jeremiah 32: And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:
Jeremiah 32: For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 32: Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Jeremiah 32: For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.
Jeremiah 32: Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal
them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 33: Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.
Jeremiah 33: Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.
Jeremiah 33: As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.
Jeremiah 35: I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending
them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me.
Jeremiah 35: Therefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them: because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered.
Jeremiah 36: It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.
Jeremiah 36: It may be they will present their supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way: for great
is the anger and the fury that the LORD hath pronounced against this people.
Jeremiah 36: And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them; but they hearkened not.
Jeremiah 38: My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he is like to die for hunger in the place where he is: for
there is no more bread in the city.
Jeremiah 39: Go and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be
accomplished in that day before thee.
Jeremiah 40: And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The LORD thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place.
Jeremiah 41: But when Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that
were with him, heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done,
Jeremiah 42: Whether
it be good, or whether
it be evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.
Jeremiah 42: If ye will still abide in this land, then will I build you, and not pull
you down, and I will plant you, and not pluck
you up: for I repent me of the evil that I have done unto you.
Jeremiah 42: So shall it be with all the men that set their faces to go into Egypt to sojourn there; they shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring upon them.
Jeremiah 44: Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they
are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,
Jeremiah 44: Therefore now thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye
this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;
Jeremiah 44: Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.
Jeremiah 44: But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for
then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.
Jeremiah 44: So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings,
and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.
Jeremiah 44: Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.
Jeremiah 44: Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that
are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.
Jeremiah 44: And this
shall be a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:
Jeremiah 45: And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek

Jeremiah 51: Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.
Jeremiah 51: And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 51: So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon,
even all these words that are written against Babylon.

Ezekiel 5: When I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for
their destruction,
and which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread:
Ezekiel 5: So will I send upon you famine and evil beasts, and they shall bereave thee; and pestilence and blood shall pass through thee; and I will bring the sword upon thee. I the LORD have spoken

Ezekiel 45: And the five and twenty thousand of length, and the ten thousand of breadth, shall also the Levites, the ministers of the house, have for themselves, for a possession for twenty chambers.
Ezekiel 48: It shall be for the priests that are sanctified of the sons of Zadok; which have kept my charge, which went not astray when the children of Israel went astray, as the Levites went astray.
Ezekiel 48: And
this oblation of the land that is offered shall be unto them a thing most holy by the border of the Levites.

shall have five and twenty thousand in length, and ten thousand in breadth: all the length
shall be five and twenty thousand, and the breadth ten thousand.

of that which is the prince's, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, shall be for the prince.

Daniel 9: And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
Daniel 9: As
it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.
Daniel 9: Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God

Nahum 1: There is
one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counseller.
Habakkuk 1: Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously,
and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth
the man that is more righteous than he?

Luke 8: Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
Luke 8: They also which saw
it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.
Luke 8: Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,
Luke 9: Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
Luke 9: And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare
him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.
Luke 9: And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.
Luke 10: And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
Luke 10: And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked
on him, and passed by on the other side.
Luke 11: And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Luke 11: If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall
your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Luke 11: And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered.
Luke 11: But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.
Luke 11: If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.
Luke 11: And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast
them out? therefore shall they be your judges.
Luke 11: But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
Luke 11: And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.
Luke 11: For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.
Luke 11: The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when
thine eye is evil, thy body also
is full of darkness.
Luke 13: And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third
day I shall be perfected.
Luke 16: But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Luke 23: And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let
him go.
John 1: And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?
John 3: And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
John 3: For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
John 5: And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
John 6: Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
John 7: The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.
John 7: The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?
John 8: Ye are of
your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
John 8: Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
John 8: Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.
John 8: Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.
John 9: Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
John 10: And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
John 10: Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
John 13: And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's
son, to betray him;
John 17: I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
John 18: Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?
John 20: Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust
it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
John 20: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
Acts 4: And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite,
and of the country of Cyprus,
Acts 7: And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat
them evil four hundred years.
Acts 7: The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.
Acts 9: Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:
Acts 10: He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.
Acts 10: How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

thou child of the devil,
thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
Acts 14: But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.
Acts 16: And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
Acts 17: Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
Acts 19: But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
Acts 19: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
Acts 19: Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
Acts 19: And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
Acts 19: And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
Acts 23: And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God's high priest?
Acts 23: Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.
Acts 23: And there arose a great cry: and the scribes
that were of the Pharisees' part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.
Acts 24: But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
Acts 24: Or else let these same
here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,
Romans 1: Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Romans 2: Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
Romans 3: And not
rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.
Romans 7: For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
Romans 7: For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Romans 7: I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
Romans 12: Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
Romans 12: Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
Romans 12: Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 13: For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

1 John 3: He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Jude 1: Likewise also these
filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
Jude 1: Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Revelation 7: Of the tribe of Simeon
were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi
were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar
were sealed twelve thousand.
Revelation 9: And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
Revelation 12: And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Revelation 12: Therefore rejoice,
ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
Revelation 16: For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles,
which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
Revelation 18: And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
Revelation 20: And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Revelation 20: And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet
are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Revelation 21: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
